The NFL draft is seven rounds for a reason: There are seven rounds of talent — and then some.

Yet while the likes of Oregon’s Dion Jordan and Texas A&M’s Luke Joeckel jockey for position atop Round 1, there’s plenty of lesser known prospects who will still excel at the next level. They are what we call “Underrated.” Or if you have a way with words, “Diamonds in the Rough.”

Now just because a prospect isn’t touted doesn’t mean they’re going to go undrafted. It’s all relative to where they’re being projected in contrast with their actual value.

So which prospects fit inside these parameters?

Nine. That’s the number of wide receivers the New England Patriots have drafted since 2002.

While that number suggests head coach Bill Belichick is open to grooming young route-runners to catch passes from Tom Brady, the team’s success rate in doing so tells another story.

Of the nine wideouts selected by the Patriots over that span, it can be argued that only Deion Branch and David Givens became integral parts in the offense. They were drafted 11 years ago.

Geno Smith Scouting Report

Up to this point many of the bowl games have been uninteresting or disappointing, that should change tomorrow night in the Pinstripe Bowl.

The game features one of the best QB match-ups of all the bowl games with Syracuse’s Ryan Nassib taking on potential top ten pick Geno Smith. This game will  be closely watched by many to see what QB outperforms the other.

Besides the two high profile quarterbacks, there are a pair of receivers and a few other prospects we will be watching closely.
