This is why I love the NFL. Anyone can make predictions of what is going to happen on game-day, but it doesn’t matter until the game is played. On Sunday, the Patriots were stunned by the Arizona Cardinals, a team riddled with quarterback problems and a lack of weapons on offense, in a 20-18 loss in the home opener at Gillette Stadium.

Although it’s easy to place the blame on kicker Stephen Gostkowski’s shanked field goal with one second left in the game, the Patriots problems were much deeper yesterday in the loss to the Cardinals.

There wasn’t much good to take out of yesterday’s loss to the Cardinals so here are my six keys to defeat.

The Patriots currently stand at 1-2 in the preseason after losing to the Bucs following a few days of joint practices.

There isn’t a lot of time to stew about the game, since the Pats have their final game against the Giants on Wednesday.

Bill Belichick said there was nothing good to take away from their offensive performance, but I disagree, like all preseason games, there was some good and some bad. Here are my six keys.

Patriots vs. Eagles: Six Keys to Defeat

It seems like a lifetime ago that the Eagles beat the Patriots in the second preseason game of the season, but I assure you it wasn’t. It was only two days ago.

The Patriots took an odd approach in this game benching many of their key players due to the fact that they have three games in the span of ten days.

Like all preseason games, there was some good and some bad, so instead of my usual six keys to defeat, I’ll split it up and do three good keys and three bad keys.

I’ve been waiting six months to be able to write this column again and let me tell you, it was a joy to watch a Patriots game again.

Even though it was a lowly preseason game, I’ve watched every snap three or four times now and I feel like I’ve fully dissected the action. There were good and bad things to take away from the 7-6 win, but today I’ll concentrate on all the good things.

My six keys to victory after the jump.
