Janoris Jenkins NFL Draft

Someone needs to stick up for this former Gator turned North Alabama Lion.

NEPD Editor: Doug Kyed

Lately, Janoris Jenkins has been a pretty popular guy, unfortunately, it’s for all the wrong reasons.

Everyone is more than willing to pile on and vilify the guy without ever caring to hear the whole story, or truly think about some of his “transgressions.”

Just remember, every one of us has something in our past that would drop us on draft boards. And a lot of us are doing more important and responsible work than covering wide receivers.

Luke Kuechly NFL Draft

If Luke Kuechly fell to #27, should the Patriots take him?

NEPD Editor: Doug Kyed

How would I handle the Patriots draft? Who are the best kick returners in this draft? Would the Patriots take Luke Kuechly if he fell to #27?

Those are some of the questions I’ll be answering in my weekly “Too Long For Twitter” Friday mailbag where I take questions from Twitter that warrant, deserve or need answers longer than 140 characters

If you have a question about anything, tweet it to me @DougKyedNEPD, and I’ll try to include it in the column on Friday. If you aren’t on Twitter, feel free to throw in a question in the comments section.

How high could the Patriots target this versatile Boise State player?

NEPD Editor: Doug Kyed

Predicting how the Patriots may draft lies somewhere between predicting the weather and picking the the correct mega millions numbers on the difficulty scale.

We think we know what positions they may be targeting, and we think we know who the best fits are, but often times Bill Belichick will throw us for a loop.

That’s exactly what I’m trying to predict in my latest Patriots 2012 NFL Mock Draft.

Janoris Jenkins NFL Draft

Is Janoris Jenkins going to be an option for the Patriots?

NEPD Editor: Mike Loyko

With free agency slated to start within the next week a lot of things are going to change within the NFL and consequently will change a lot within the NFL draft. Many questions that we have had since the end of the season will be answered in the next couple weeks and the NFL draft picture will begin to clarify a little bit.

Here are my 15 Thoughts prior to the beginning of Free Agency:

Janoris Jenkins NFL Draft

Could Janoris Jenkins fall to the Patriots? And if so, would Belichick be willing to take a risk in the first round?

NEPD Editor: Doug Kyed

Bill Belichick is a hard man to predict, and that especially rears itself in April during the NFL Draft. With all the prospects and all the potential trades, there could be millions of possibilities for the Patriots this year. Here’s the one that I envision.

2012 NFL Combine: Defensive Preview

Bruce Irvin Patriots Draft

Bruce Irvin could the fastest defensive lineman in Indianapolis this week. But how will he stack up during official measurements? (Photo: ICON SMI)

NEPD Editor: Doug Kyed

The combine is great for many things, but one of those is just the chance to see every player in one setting, doing the same drills right next to one another. There are so many variables during the season, it’s nice to see one controlled environment even if they aren’t in pads.

Each of these positions has something different to showcase at the combine, for DBs, it’s all about speed at footwork. For the defensive line, it’s more about flexibility and strength. For linebackers, teams will be looking at technique, burst and overall athleticism.

It’s a fun time of year, so when you’re watching the NFL Network, make sure to watch some of these guys.
