New England Patriots 75-Man Deadline Connections

Despite a disappointing career thus far, waived-injured wide receiver Joe Adams would be an interesting addition to New England’s roster. (Photo: US Presswire)

Following Tuesday’s deadline, in which NFL teams were required to reduce their rosters to seventy-five players, the free agent market has expanded, potentially opening the door for new additions to New England’s roster. The team signed nose tackle Gilbert Pena yesterday, and plenty of interesting players remain available. Read on for a list of players New England has shown interest in during the pre-draft process (dating back to 2009) or at the pro level, as well as for a list of speculative connections who make sense despite no official contacts (to my knowledge.) Keep in mind that this list is incomplete and may not include all connections.

Speculative Connections:

The following players have not been confirmed to have received interest from New England, but who I nonetheless consider intriguing options:

QB John Parker Wilson, Pittsburgh (played at Alabama)

QB James Vandenberg, Minnesota (played at Iowa)

RB Ray Graham, Houston (impressive agility/burst)

RB D.J. Harper, San Francisco (compact, polished runner)

FB Owen Marecic, Cleveland (has played fullback and linebacker)

TE Deangelo Peterson, Denver (athletic move tight end)

TE Leonard Pope, Chicago (has played for Todd Haley)

OG Ryan Miller, Cleveland (college teammate of Nate Solder)

OC Quentin Saulsberry, Denver (played at Alabama, can also play guard)

DT Eric Foster, Chicago (Rutgers player)

CB DeQuan Menzie, Detroit (played at Alabama)

DB Donnie Fletcher, New York Jets (played at Boston College, can play CB or FS)

Honestly I would have to look up both Jamar Chaney and Sam McGuffe and will, but a guy I’d consider would be Donnie Fletcher from BC. As I recall from his scouting report he has decent speed and stats and I think he could challange Travon Wilson, Ebner, Green. Lewis, Martin, Harmon and Jones for a S spot. Plus he can also play CB, giving that flexability BB likes.

Jamar Chaney is someone I wouldn’t mind seeing the Pats bring in.

WR/RB Sam Mc Guffie would be a great fit in the Patriots system or at least our practice sqaud, also he is blazing fast, faster than J.Boyce!
