Patriots Draft Mockumentrary: 3/2/2010

Each Tuesday, we’ll be looking at five NFL Mock Drafts, including our own. We’ll decide who wins, who fails, and who falls in between. Make sure you let us know what you think.

Today we’re looking at the 2010 NFL Mock Drafts from The Football Hub, Draft Season, Inside the Eagles, NFL Draft Dog, and our very own 2010 NFL Mock Draft.

1st Round – 22nd Overall
Football Hub – Sergio Kindle, DE/OLB, Texas
Draft Season – Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma
Inside The Eagles – Carlos Dunlap, DE/OLB, Florida
NFL Draft Dog – Jahvid Best, RB, California
NE Patriots Draft – Carlos Dunlap, DE/OLB, Florida

Three sites agree that the Patriots need to address the pass rush via the DE/OLB hybrid position. Dunlap and Kindle both have some warts, Dunlap having attitude issues on and off the field, while Kindle has some size/strength issues. Each though brings some dynamic talent to the table, with Dunlap possessing the ideal size that Coach Belichick looks for in a 3-4 rush OLB.

Gresham and Best also are intriguing selections for the Patriots. Gresham has all the receiving skills that he needs for the NFL, but his blocking isn’t up to par with the rest of his game. If injuries aren’t looked at, Jahvid Best is a top-10 talent. That said, his concussion problems, along with some pass-protection issues, will weigh heavily on teams minds.

At this point, I’d be happy with any of these players being the Patriots first selection, but would rather trade down and select Kindle or Gresham later in the 1st – I think they might still be there.

Not true when the patriots didnt have many options in 2006 i believe watson had a carrer high in receptions. TE can be valuable since wes welker is out with a serious injury..

Why would the Patriots pick Jermaine Gresham. The Patriots don’t even use TE’s.
