NFL Draft Homework: BCS Championship Game

Alabama vs Texas, January 7th, 8:00pm, Fox

Top NFL Draft Prospects for the BCS Championship:

1. Rolando McClain, LB, Alabama(Pictured)
The best ILB prospect that we’ve seen since Patrick Willis. McLain moves with a fluidity in coverage that belies his impressive strength and frame. Will be surprised if he lasts 15 picks in the draft.

2. Terrence Cody, NT, Alabama
Nobody disagrees that Cody is a powerful 350 lb. run-stopper. People do disagree whether Cody will only be a one or two down lineman in the NFL. If so, he won’t warrant a top 20 pick, and might slip out of the 1st round altogether.

3. Sergio Kindle, OLB, Texas
Kindle is a tweener that we feel will have trouble setting the edge in the NFL due to a lack of strength. That said, he is a dynamic play-maker that can apply good pressure to the QB. Probably a late 1st-rounder.

4. Javier Arenas, CB, Alabama
Teams that need to improve two phases of the game need to take a look at Javier Arenas. Your return game will be instantly improved, and your defense will be upgraded by this solid corner as well. Late 1st round is where Arenas will be picked.

5. Colt McCoy, QB, Texas
McCoy’s NFL prospects are intriguing. He has the accuracy and mobility to be a NFL QB, but he just isn’t the right size. That alone will push him into the 2nd round – at least.

6. Kareem Jackson, CB, Alabama
Probably won’t declare until 2011, but many people like Jackson even more than Arenas. Truly a complete corner that would probably be a 3rd round pick this year.
