Top NFL Free Agents: S

QB / RB / WR / TE / OT / OG / OC / DT / DE / OLB / ILB / CB / SS

1. LaRon Landry, Washington Redskins – (SIGNED with New York Jets)
Landry is one of the most talented safeties in the league…when he is on the field. He may be looking for a big contract which will be risky given his injury history

2. Michael Griffin, Tennessee Titans – (FRANCHISED by Tennessee)
Griffin has already said he doesn’t anticipate re-signing in Tennessee, so he will have a new home. Griffin is a pro bowl safety who can provide both run support and coverage on the back end.

3. Tyvon Branch, Oakland Raiders – (FRANCHISED by Oakland)
Brnach is only 25 years old, it’s not often a player of his caliber gets to the market at such a young age. Branch is a fast and aggressive safety who is very solid in run support. He can get beat in pass coverage, but he is one of the best in the box safeties in the league.

4. Dashon Goldson, San Francisco 49ers – (FRANCHISED by San Francisco)
Every time I watch Goldson he is making plays. Coming off another Pro Bowl he is likely to draw a lot of interest. The 49ers have much bigger priorities this off season so Goldson might have to go elsewhere, but the franchise tag is still a possibility as well.

5. Thomas DeCoud, Atlanta Falcons – (RESIGNED with Atlanta)
DeCoud has incresed his tackles each season in the league. He struggled a bit in coverage this year, but still was able to INT 4 pass and defend 6 others.

6. OJ Atogwe, Washington Redskins (SIGNED with Philadelphia)
Atogwe was signed to a big deal by the Redskins last offseason, but underperformed and was cut for cap reasons.

7. Dwight Lowery, Jacksonville Jaguars – (RESIGNED with Jacksonville)
The Jags secondary was riddled with injuries this year. Lowery provided stability and excelled in his move to FS. He should draw a lot of interest as a player who can play CB and safety

8. Jim Leonhard, New York Jets (SIGNED with Denver)
Leonhard is not a great athlete and can’t cover, he is a smart player who is the emotional leader of the Jets secondary unit

9. Melvin Bullitt, Indianapolis Colts
Big things were expected of Melvin Bullitt in Indy. Those expectations weren’t met. There are rumors that Bullitt failed his physical prompting him to be released.

10. Mike Adams, Cleveland Browns – (SIGNED with Denver)
Adams provided 64 tackles and 3 INTs from his FS position. He has player well the last few years. He may be looking for starter money and I’m not sure it’s out there

11. Reggie Smith, San Franciso 49ers (SIGNED with Carolina)
Smith is a converted college CB who has backed up Goldson in San Francisco. It’s expected that Smith will be allowed to leave and should get a shot at more playing time elsewhere

12. James Sanders, Atlanta Falcons (SIGNED with Arizona)
Sanders is not exciting or flashy, but he is a smart, steady force in the secondary who doesn’t make many mistakes

13. Reggie Nelson, Cincinnati Bengals – (RESIGNED with Cincinnati)
14. Yeremiah Bell, Miami Dolphins – (SIGNED with New York Jets)
