Day 1 of the 2013 NFL draft is in the books, and with it came some shockers.

Not many thought three of the first four draft picks would be offensive tackles. Not many thought Alabama offensive tackle D.J. Fluker would jump up to the San Diego Chargers at No. 11. Not many thought that Utah defensive tackle Star Lotulelei would drop to the Carolina Panthers at No. 14. And most certainly, not many thought that Florida State’s E.J. Manuel would end up being the first quarterback drafted at No. 16.

What kinds of surprises are in store for us tonight? It’s time to look ahead and delve into the Day 2 possibilities.

The Patriots like to perform their “due diligence” on prospects in the NFL Draft. They rack up countless pro day visits, interviews, private workouts and official visits.

My latest mock draft incorporates all the combine results and latest transactions around the league. Free agency is two weeks away and once it opens team needs will change dramatically. As it stands today, the draft is gaining a little more clarity as we now have an idea or who could be the first overall pick in the draft.

However, at this point in the draft process it’s still an entire educated guess as to who goes where. Here is my best shot.

Les Miles delivered the unthinkable news early this afternoon, that Heisman finalist and one of the best players in college football Tyrann Mathieu has been kicked off the LSU football team. While the exact cause of the departure wasn’t specified it’s rumored that Mathieu failed his third drug test.

What does this mean for Mathieu’s draft stock and what does it mean for LSU?
