NEPD Editor: James Christensen
As I mentioned earlier this week during my five under-valued prospects, we’ll be starting an exclusive Play The Draft league for readers of our network of sites this Monday.
Here are five prospects that I’d recommend staying away from putting on your Play The Draft team this season.

1. Kansas City Chiefs: Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia (SCOUTING REPORT)
In the wake of a horrific situation that affected the Chiefs organization on Saturday, quarterback Brady Quinn led his team to a win with a very strong performance on Sunday. Quinn isn’t, however, the long-term answer at quarterback, and neither is Matt Cassel.
If the Chiefs hold the No. 1 overall pick, they have little choice but to draft the best quarterback on the board, even though there is no elite signal-caller prospect in this class. At this point, the top quarterback prospect is West Virginia’s Geno Smith, who combines prototypical size and athleticism for a pocket passer with a strong arm, quick release and the accuracy to make even the toughest of throws.

Notre Dame traveled to Norman, Oklahoma to take on the Sooners in what was the most important game for Norte Dame since the Tyrone Willingham era. The game was loaded with NFL Draft prospects, many of whom will be eligible to come out this April.
One of the biggest question marks heading into the game was how would Landry Jones perform with the spotlight on him and how would the Notre Dame front seven hold up vs. the powerful Oklahoma offense. Check out all my scouting notes on 10+ NFL prospects in this showdown.

Scouting Manti Te’o and Notre Dame’s Top 5 Prospects for the 2013 NFL Draft
Saturday, September 29th, 2012
NEPD Staff Writer: Dan Hope
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are making as much noise as any program in college football through the first four weeks of the season. The Fighting Irish are off to a 4-0 start. With an impressive set of wins already including back-to-back victories over Big Ten powers Michigan State and Michigan, Notre Dame looks like they are finally back to being one of college football’s top contenders.
The No. 10 Fighting Irish have talent on both sides of the ball as well as on special teams, but it is their defense that is making them a contender. Notre Dame ranks fourth nationally with only 9 points allowed per game, and are 16th nationally in total defense with 291.3 yards allowed per game.
The leader of that defense is senior inside linebacker Manti Te’o. If you’re a college football fan, you’ve known who Te’o was since he became an immediate star as a freshman at Notre Dame. If you’re an NFL fan, you should get to know him soon.
