Desmond Trufant would look very good in a New England Patriots uniform.

The 2012 NFL draft was certainly out of the ordinary for the New England Patriots as we saw Bill Belichick and company trade up in the first round to select defensive end Chandler Jones and linebacker Dont’a Hightower.

If trading up does prove to be a new trend for the Patriots, then one player that the team might have their eyes on is cornerback Desmond Trufant.

Report: Patriots Looking to Trade Jeff Demps

Sunday, April 14th, 2013

Jeff Demps’ track career might lead to a trade from New England.

NEPD Staff Writer: Tony Santorsa

The Jeff Demps era probably won’t last long in New England as it appears that he’s likely on his way out of town.

With reports surfacing earlier this year indicating that Demps wants to focus on his professional track career rather than his football career, it almost seemed imminent that the Patriots would look to part ways with the Silver medal winning track and field athlete.

Percy Harvin: Foxboro Bound?

Tuesday, February 12th, 2013

Was this almost a Patriots uniform?

NEPD Staff Writer: Tony Santorsa

The combination of Tom Brady and Percy Harvin would be lethal—there’s no debating that. In fact, this tandem of quarterback and wide receiver would be something that you could only imagine happening in a video game. However, there is a possibility that Harvin could wind up in a New England Patriots uniform in 2013.

According to CBS Minnesota, the Minnesota Vikings will attempt to trade their star wide receiver this offseason.

The Patriots were not expected to make a trade at yesterday’s deadline, but Bill Belichick surprised by trading New England’s fourth-round selection to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for their starting left cornerback, Aqib Talib, and a seventh-round pick in 2013; Talib is currently serving a four-game suspension after testing positive for Adderall and will not be eligible to return until November 18th. NEPD Editor Mike Loyko covered the trade in depth here; I have added some additional thoughts of my own below.

Each day leading up to the start of Patriots training camp, we’ll take a look at one position on the roster as it currently stands. We start off with the most stable position on the roster: quarterback.

Tom Brady is a lock, but who make the rosters and what impact will those players have this year and in the future?

2012 NFL Draft: Patriots Trade Down in 5th Round

Saturday, April 28th, 2012

NEPD Editor: James Christensen

The Patriots have traded their 5th round pick, acquired yesterday from the Packers, back to the Packers.

In exchange for the fifth round selection, the Patriots received a 6th (197) and two 7th (224, 235) round picks.

With the glut of wide receivers and defensive backs on the board, New England must feel that they can get good value later on in the draft.

If the first day of the draft was an A+ for the Patriots, the second day receives a very generous “meh.”
