Two of these rookies can help you win your fantasy championship.

Two of these rookies can help you win your fantasy championship.

NEPD Staff Writer CJ Sousa

You followed them through their college careers.  You magnified, criticized, and fell in love with some during the draft process.  It’s now time to see which rookies can help you win your all-important Fantasy Football championship.

Odell Beckham Jr. brought awareness to the ‘Rookies are People Too’ campaign for fantasy owners last season, however OB3 wasn’t the first rookie to lead owners nationwide to cyber championships.

I am still celebrating my 2005 Fantasy Football championship, which was only possible due to a rookie running back out of Auburn – Cadillac Williams. (more…)

Who's taking home the all important cyber hardware?!

Who’s taking home the all important cyber hardware?!

Are you tired of winners / losers NFL Draft columns? I know I am, and I also know I will probably write one up at some point soon.  Nonetheless, let’s hand out some cyber hardware for the 2015 NFL Draft. (more…)

CJ Sousa’s 2015 Patriots Specific Big Board

Which players made my big board and what big names were left off?

Which players made my big board and what big names were left off?

NEPD Staff Writer CJ Sousa

The national holiday that is the NFL Draft is just around the corner.  If you’re anything like me, you have looked at 4,291 mock drafts, 782 big boards and filled out some countless mock drafts on your own.  Not because you are actually thinking that is how the real draft will go, as we know it takes just one trade to throw a whole entire mock draft off.

It’s kind of like the movie Jack Frost.  Snow dad is better than no dad.  Truly, fake NFL drafts are better than no NFL drafts.  Rest easy fans, the real deal is around the corner. (more…)

Eyes on the Competition : Miami Dolphins

Can the $114 million DT lead Miami to a division crown?

Can the $114 million DT lead Miami to a division crown?

NEPD Staff Writer CJ Sousa

Few teams have been busier this offseason than the Miami Dolphins.   The Dolphins have wheeled and dealed, as well as mortgage the farm in the process for some immediate success.

The crown jewel of the 2015 Free Agency class, Ndamukong Suh, bolted the Motor City for South Beach inking a cool six year $114,375,000 contract.  I expect Suh to have an obvious and immediate impact on the defensive front, making an already solid defensive front one of the best in the league.

That wasn’t the Fins’ best move this offseason though, not even close.  (more…)

Eyes on the Competition : San Diego Chargers

I am of the belief Phillip Rivers & Co. will reign supreme in the AFC West this season.

In recent years, everybody has been focused on the Denver Broncos as the lone legitimate AFC Super Bowl threat from out west. The Chiefs have even gotten’ some love in recent years as a potential sleeper as well. Oakland.. eh, no need to mention.

However the way I see it, based on a nightmare cap situation in Denver combined with a (in my opinion) vastly overrated roster in Kansas City (losing Eric Berry is a killer), I believe San Diego will rise up as the AFC West Champs this year.

San Diego is in quite the unique situation. (more…)

Saturday Slate Week 12: College Prospects to Watch

Will Mississippi State get the monkey off their back and beat Alabama? Or will Amari Cooper & Co. once again own their SEC West rivals.

Will Mississippi State get the monkey off their back and beat Alabama? Or will Amari Cooper & Co. once again own their SEC West rivals?

Some weekends just have a playoff feel to them, and week 12 is certainly one of them. Teams are playing a game of musical chairs for one of the playoff spots, while prospects are running out of time to build their resumes for the 2015 NFL draft. Week 12 has two mammoth SEC match ups, in which all four teams playing all have a realistic shot at the playoffs. Will you be camped in front of a television Saturday? I know I will. Here are the biggest matchups of the weekend broken down. (more…)

The Turf Report Mid-Season Rankings: Upperclassmen on Patriots’ Radar

Saturday, October 18th, 2014
NCAA Football: Wisconsin at Northwestern

Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon could join former teammate James White in New England’s backfield next season. (Jerry Lai-USA TODAY Sports)

NEPD Staff Writer: Ken Vetrano

With the Turf Report taking the past couple weeks off, figured it would be appropriate to return with some mid-season rankings. Lets take a look at who’s stood out from the pack, and which amateur backs might be donning a flying Elvis on their helmet next fall?

Last Sunday’s season ending knee injury to Stevan Ridley has cast some uncertainty in Foxborough as to what the Patriots will do after this season at running back. Both Rildey and Shane Vereen are impending free agents, and there’s no guarantee either will return after 2014. The following are potential Junior and Senior prospects that should be appealing to New England this spring. I broke them down into three tiers and detailed the ones that could land on Belichick’s radar.
