Patriots Draft WR

The Patriots got no production from Taylor Price, their 2010 third-round pick.

The Patriots were looking for another fast and dynamic outside receiving weapon when they drafted Taylor Price out of Ohio with the No. 90 overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. Price, however, never materialized into a productive NFL player.

Drafting Wide Receivers: A Patriots Case Study

Patriots Draft WR

Taylor Price wasn't the answer. Unless the question was "Who is the latest bust at WR for the Patriots?"

NEPD Editor: Mike Loyko

It’s become like a cruel joke around here in New England. Every year or two the Patriots draft a WR and the hopes of Patriots Nation immediately are sky high. Everyone swears that this time this one will turn into a star.

With Tom Brady at QB any receiver brought to New England will be successful, or so it was once thought. While other teams are drafting Greg Jennings, Mike Wallace and other pro bowl receivers we have been stuck with the Taylor Prices and Chad Jackson’s of the world.

Why can other teams seemingly draft such quality WRs and the Patriots strikeout with the position year after year? I went back and looked at each WR the Patriots drafted looking at how they fared in college, how they did at the combine and what may have made the Patriots draft them.

Here is what I found.

Patriots vs Bucs

Who will be joining these guys in the Patriots receiving corps?

NEPD Staff Writer: Doug Kyed

Correctly predicting the Patriots 53 man roster seems like an impossible task at times, which is precisely why I’m not even going to attempt to do that at this time.

What I am going to do though, is break down what might be three of the most interesting and inter-weaving positions on the Patriots roster.

You wouldn’t think that depth at tackle would affect how many wide receivers the Patriots might carry, would you? Well, it might be the case this year.

Patriots Training Camp: Initial Reactions

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

The Patriots have now completed three days of training camp, spending half of Saturday in shorts and t-shirts after four full-pad practices on Thursday and Friday. While it is still very early in the development and evaluation process, a few themes have developed.

We’ve already given you our first prediction for the final 53-man roster, but by reader request we’re going to get a bit more specific and take a crack at projecting the starting offense and defense.

Taylor Price runs with the ball at Patriots Rookie Camp

Taylor Price’s long wait to join the Patriots is finally over.  After the Ohio Bobcats (finally) hold their 2010 commencement ceremonies today, the Patriot’s 3rd-round pick can officially suit up for organized team activities (OTA’s). Due to an NFL rule, rookies aren’t allowed to attend OTA’s until their college has held graduation.
