Patrick Chung’s return to Foxboro was much quieter than his departure.

But after a challenging season with the Philadelphia Eagles, the 2009 second-round pick is back where his NFL career began as a member of the New England Patriots.

He doesn’t know if he’ll start a game for New England in 2014. He doesn’t know if he’ll be on the 53-man roster come September. Yet the 26-year-old safety does know that his experience in the system, as well as his special teams and his leadership, can be invaluable to the youth around him.

Fifth-year Patriots safety Devin McCourty agrees. (more…)

James Develin has come a long way since being an undrafted defensive lineman out of Brown in 2010.

He’s played indoors for the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz of the Arena Football League’s af2. He’s suited up for the Florida Tuskers in the now-defunct United Football League. And it wasn’t until there was four games left in the 2010 season that the 6’3”, 255-pounder got his NFL shot. (more…)

Ominous clouds loomed overhead as the New England Patriots prepared for Day 4 of training camp Sunday morning. And inside Gillette Stadium beforehand, director of player personnel Nick Caserio shared some ominous news regarding receiver Greg Orton.

The team waived-injured 27-year-old wideout, who was re-signed Wednesday and suffered an Achilles injury on Friday. Two wideouts – Brian Tyms and Cole Stanford – were signed in corresponding moves to fill the roster to 90. (more…)

Justin Jones has a natural advantage over the defenders covering him at New England Patriots training camp. But for the 6’8”, 275-pound undrafted tight end, it’s about learning to get the most out of it.

He has one to learn from in the 6’6”, 265-pound Rob Gronkowski. (more…)

Brandon LaFell’s first four months with the New England Patriots have been an acclimation process. The former Carolina Panthers wideout has had to learn the nuances of a new offense and the ball placement of a new quarterback.

And he’s had to do so against five-time Pro Bowl cornerback Darrelle Revis. (more…)

Even when the New England Patriots were in shorts and shells during the first two days of training camp, Brandon Browner was playing full-contact on his opponents.

Whether it was his strong press of the snap, or his disheveling of receivers down the field, the 29-year-old cornerback never turned off the switch. When the pads were on for the first time Saturday, it was clear that he doesn’t plan to. (more…)
