Since the last roster projection six days ago the Patriots played their first pre-season game and decided to make a few roster moves. With three weeks remaining until rosters are cut down to 75 and ultimately 53, there is still time to make an impression on Bill Belichick.

But, the clock is ticking and now is the time where the “contenders” separate themselves from the “pretenders”. Heading into the second pre-season game here is how I see the current Patriots roster shaking out.

With organized team activities and mandatory minicamp all wrapped up, it’s officially summer for the New England Patriots. But come July 24, the rest and relaxation will be over for the 90-man roster.

It is then that training camp on the practice fields behind Gillette Stadium will commence. It is then that the competition for roster spots will be heightened to a level far exceeding offseason workouts. It is then that head coach Bill Belichick, director of player personnel Nick Caserio and staff will start the clock.

Time will be of the essence.

By 4 p.m. on Aug. 27, the organization’s brass will have to whittle the roster to 75 players. And by 6 p.m. on Aug. 31, they’ll have to cut it down to 53. (more…)

The Patriots got richer during the 2013 NFL Draft, adding youth and talent to a roster that has made multiple deep playoff runs.

Starting later this week, training camp will play host to a brutal competition for the last few spots on the 53-man roster.

Who made the cut?

A long and eventful off-season finally comes to an end next week when the Patriots get back to work on the practice fields in Foxboro. At last we can talk about football and roster decisions. A lot of talk early on will be centered on players that are no longer in New England.

Nevertheless, the 2013 Patriots features an extraordinary amount of young depth across the roster. It’s never easy to cut down to 53 players and this year may prove to be one of the hardest.

Here’s an early look at what the Patriots roster could look like.

It was tough to gleam much of anything from Wednesday night’s lacklaster final preseason game.

So, I’ll make this one brief, because I think we’re all sick of thinking about the preseason in general and especially that boring 6-3 game.

I’ll also have my final roster projection, secondary charting and a couple Alfonzo Dennard play breakdowns after the jump.
