Where will these stars land in our re-draft? (Hint: they will not be waiting long in the Green Room).

Now that the draft has come and gone, the instant analysis is pouring in.  Who are the ‘Winners’ and ‘Losers’ are the big hot button topics discussed in draft talk nationwide.  But truly, how do we know who the true winners and losers are?

Fact is, we don’t. We make educated guesses, sure.  But at the end of the day none of us have a crystal ball.  The only thing better than a mock draft is a re-draft, and as the top players from the 2011 draft approach the end of their rookie deals, we’re going to take a look at the real winners of the 2011 draft. Eyes On the Competition : AFC East

The Patriots could find themselves in a tricky position if they start slow this year.

If you’re tired of reading about the dreaded ‘deflategate’ and how New England cuts another cornerback once a week, you have come to the right place.  Eyes On The Competition returns post-draft to breakdown the AFC East, and how things could wind up next year after the draft makeover.

The Tom Brady suspension is still up in the air, but it is safe to assume he will at least miss SOME time.  One game?  Two games?  Personally that’s how I think it will fall.  But who knows, four games is still in play with Captain Touchback hearing the appeal. (more…)

CJ Sousa’s 2015 Patriots Specific Big Board

Which players made my big board and what big names were left off?

The national holiday that is the NFL Draft is just around the corner.  If you’re anything like me, you have looked at 4,291 mock drafts, 782 big boards and filled out some countless mock drafts on your own.  Not because you are actually thinking that is how the real draft will go, as we know it takes just one trade to throw a whole entire mock draft off.

It’s kind of like the movie Jack Frost.  Snow dad is better than no dad.  Truly, fake NFL drafts are better than no NFL drafts.  Rest easy fans, the real deal is around the corner. (more…)

Potential Patriots: LB Denzel Perryman

Wednesday, September 24th, 2014

NEPD Staff Writer: Adam Bogdan

Continuing my Potential Patriots series, I decided to look at Miami’s middle linebacker Denzel Perryman based on the feedback from readers.

The Patriots have certainly struggled this year against the run at times, and their linebacking corps may be one of the shallowest positions on the team. While Jerod Mayo and Jamie Collins have exceptional athleticism, and with Dont’a Hightower becoming a pass rusher, there lacks a physical presence in the middle of the defense that can stuff the run with ferocity and fearlessness. That is what Perryman can do.

Is this the year Tom Brady and the Patriots end the Super Bowl drought?

Is this the year Tom Brady and the Patriots end the Super Bowl drought?

NEPD Editor: Mike Loyko

The 2014 NFL Season finally kicks off tonight when Green Bay travels to Seattle to take on the defending Super Bowl champions. For the next five months our daily lives will be consumed by football until a champion is crowned in  Phoenix, Arizona on February 1st. Is this the year the Patriots finally clear the final hurdle and win their fourth Lombardi Trophy? Is this the year the Jacksonville Jaguars return to respectability? Well, I think we all know the answer to the last question, but there are plenty of other questions to be answered. Here are my predictions for the 2014 NFL Season.

Monday’s training camp practice for the New England Patriots was the final session open to the public this summer. It gave Patriots fans the opportunity to see something they’ve been waiting to see since December: Rob Gronkowski participating in full-team drills and taking contact.

Eight months removed from a torn ACL, Gronkowski has been working his way back gradually during training camp. He hasn’t played in either of the Patriots’ first two preseason games—and it’s doubtful he’ll play in either of the last two—but he looked ready for action, or at least close to it, on Monday.

The New England Patriots will enter the playoffs as the AFC’s second seed after defeating the Buffalo Bills by a final score of 34-20 in what was a game characterized by outstanding success on the ground, which was able to successfully mask a pedestrian passing game and questionable defense.
