NEPD Staff Writer: Adam Bogdan

Continuing my Potential Patriots series, I decided to look at Miami’s middle linebacker Denzel Perryman based on the feedback from readers.

The Patriots have certainly struggled this year against the run at times, and their linebacking corps may be one of the shallowest positions on the team. While Jerod Mayo and Jamie Collins have exceptional athleticism, and with Dont’a Hightower becoming a pass rusher, there lacks a physical presence in the middle of the defense that can stuff the run with ferocity and fearlessness. Well, I think we all know the answer to the last question, but there are plenty of other questions to be answered. Here are my predictions for the 2014 NFL Season.

Monday’s training camp practice for the New England Patriots was the final session open to the public this summer. It gave Patriots fans the opportunity to see something they’ve been waiting to see since December: Rob Gronkowski participating in full-team drills and taking contact.

Eight months removed from a torn ACL, Gronkowski has been working his way back gradually during training camp. He hasn’t played in either of the Patriots’ first two preseason games—and it’s doubtful he’ll play in either of the last two—but he looked ready for action, or at least close to it, on Monday.

The New England Patriots have a chance to secure a first-round bye in their season finale this afternoon, but in order to do so they’ll have to win a divisional matchup against the 6-9 Buffalo Bills, a team which nearly beat New England earlier in the season and which boasts a strong running game and an aggressive defense which currently ranks first in sacks and fifth vs. the pass. Read on for ten keys to New England’s last regular-season contest of 2013.

In one of their most impressive defensive efforts of the year, the New England Patriots were able to get on the board early and often, while frustrating efforts from the Baltimore Ravens to throw the ball downfield, improving to 11-4 on the season via a 41-7 victory over an ineffective Ravens squad which would not make the playoffs if the season ended today. In what is one of the most important games of the season for both teams involved, the 10-4 New England Patriots will attempt to make up for last week’s road loss at Miami by disrupting an 8-6 Baltimore Ravens team which has won their past four games and which currently holds a tiebreaker over the Miami Dolphins for the sixth and final playoff seed based on their head-to-head-win percentage. A Patriots victory would go a long way toward securing one of two first-round byes while jeopardizing the chances of the Ravens making the playoffs, with Baltimore currently motivated by the fact that they may well be playing for their season. Read on for ten keys to this crucial contest.
