NEPD Editor: Mike Loyko

Draft Day is just about here and optimism is abound with each selection that is made. The Patriots have had some very good drafts in recent years, but let’s be honest, Bill Belichick has also had some misses and some bigger than others. It’s time to take a look at the 10 worst draft picks of the Bill Belichick era and hope none of this year’s picks end up on this list in the future.

Patriots Trade Laurence Maroney

Patriots Madden Ratings Observations

The new rating this year has to do with celebrating after or before a TD.  Tom Brady clocks in with the Patriots highest rating at 96.  Randy Moss also sports a 95.  The oversight here is Zoltan Mesko – given a 75 rating… He deserves at least a 106.

Laurence Maroney placed on IR

Monday, October 20th, 2008
These two will be hanging out for the next few weeks.

The Patriots placed running back Laurence Maroney on injured reserve today. Maroney has been plagued by injuries for his whole career with the Patriots, lately a problem with his shoulder.

This leaves the Patriots with a stable of running backs that include Sammy Morris, Lamont Jordan, Heath Evans, and BenJarvus Green-Ellis.

In other news, offensive guard Stephen Neal has been activated from the Physically unable to perform list, while G/C Dan Connolly has been released. Look for Neal to bolster a line that has given up more sacks this year than the Patriots gave up all last year.
