2014 NFL Draft

NEPD Staff Writer: Ken Vetrano

The Following mock draft does not include trades, and the only picks made are those acquired or assigned to teams before hand. More information regarding prospects can be found in Mike Loyko’s Draft Guide or another favorite resource of mine Daniel Jeremiah’s top 50 NFL prospects.

2014 NFL Draft: 15 Thoughts from Mike Loyko

Monday, May 5th, 2014

With three days until the draft, Mike Evans’ stock is on fire.

NEPD Editor: Mike Loyko

We finally made it to NFL Draft week! A process that officially started for me back in January at the Senior Bowl is now only a few short days away. Regardless of what happens Thursday, Friday, or Saturday there will be hundreds of surprises and moves that shake up the NFL Draft.

As we count down the hours until the draft, here are my final thoughts leading up to this year’s draft.

Mike Loyko’s Pre-Combine 2014 NFL Mock Draft

Wednesday, February 12th, 2014

NEPD Editor: Mike Loyko

It’s been a full week since the football season ended and the focus of the football universe is entirely on the NFL Draft. Even though it’s early, there is nothing fans love more than a mock draft. Fans love to dream of possibilities and envision which player their favorite team could end up with or find out where their favorite player might end up.

Free Agency hasn’t started yet and the combine is just over a week away,  which means this mock will be irrelevant in a matter of weeks. But, without further ado, here is my pre-combine mock draft.

Even though most prospects don’t go through fundamental changes in their talent level or skill set during the year, their stock certainly fluctuates like it does. The same phenomenon occurs in finance as stock prices surge and dip daily despite very little actually changing at the company level. It’s a little different scenario when you’re dealing with evaluating people like us draftniks do, but that is part of the fun. The bowl season is over and the All-Star or Senior circuit is just underway, so let’s take a look at whose stock has risen the most recently. (more…)

Mike Loyko’s 2014 NFL Draft Top 100: January Edition

How is Johnny Football ranked in Mike’s Top 100?

NEPD Editor: Mike Loyko

The college football season wrapped up last night and now it’s time to turn all of our attention to towards the NFL Draft. Even though the draft is more than four months away it’s not too early to start projecting how the board will stack up in May.

Based on our evaluations this season and previous seasons, this list  is intended to be a gauge of where I would select a player if I ran an NFL team. As more evaluation is completed and the Senior Bowl, Combine and Pro Days take place this list will change. For now, here is how I rank the top prospects for the 2014 NFL Draft.

2014 NFL Draft: Ranking the Best QBs by Attributes

Saturday, December 14th, 2013

Besides winning the “Most Immature” category does Manziel have another top notch skill? (US Presswire)

By Marc Sluis, Staff Writer

Too much blame in losses, too much credit in wins is a hackneyed but accurate truism used to describe a few positions within the world of sports. The quarterback position is not just the most influential position likely in all of sports  as far as affecting wins and losses. It’s also one of the toughest positions to evaluate, scout and project to the next level.

When so many factors are relevant it can be tough to gauge what matters and what is trivial. That discussion is more suited for a historical and in depth review so here are some of those attributes scouts look for and which draft eligible prospects (those who have not taken themselves out of consideration) rank among of the best in each.

Heisman Finalist Collin Klein: NFL Quarterback Prospect?

Collin Klein Tim Tebow

Is Heisman finalist Collin Klein closer to Colin Kaepernick or Tim Tebow? (US Presswire)

NEPD Staff Writer: Dan Hope

For two of three finalists for Saturday’s Heisman Trophy ceremony, their 2013 NFL draft stock is clear. Notre Dame middle linebacker Manti Te’o is one of the draft’s elite prospects and a sure high first-round pick, while Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel is only a redshirt freshman, and therefore not yet draft-eligible.

For Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein, however, his stock as an NFL prospect is less clear-cut.
