With the 53rd overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft, the New England Patriots nabbed Florida defensive end Jermaine Cunningham. The 6’3”, 255-pounder was the first of three Gators to be selected by New England that April, and with good reason. Coached by Urban Meyer down in Gainesville, Cunningham was seen as a leader, a pure edge-rusher and an NFL-ready competitor due to his three years of starting experience.

The Patriots lost three games against the New York Giants last year, none of them more disappointing than the Superbowl loss. There was no revenge tonight, as the Patriots lost 6-3 in a game marred by poor line play and questionable refereeing.

It seems like a lifetime ago that the Eagles beat the Patriots in the second preseason game of the season, but I assure you it wasn’t. It was only two days ago.

The Patriots took an odd approach in this game benching many of their key players due to the fact that they have three games in the span of ten days.

Like all preseason games, there was some good and some bad, so instead of my usual six keys to defeat, I’ll split it up and do three good keys and three bad keys.
