The 2012 NFL draft was certainly out of the ordinary for the New England Patriots as we saw Bill Belichick and company trade up in the first round to select defensive end Chandler Jones and linebacker Dont’a Hightower.

If trading up does prove to be a new trend for the Patriots, then one player that the team might have their eyes on is cornerback Desmond Trufant.

Post Combine 2013 NFL Mock Draft – Updated 3/11

With the NFL Combine coming and going, we now have had plenty of time to thoroughly analyze the results of each prospect. With that being said, let’s take a look at my post-combine 2013 NFL mock draft.

As outlined last week in our Darius Slay feature, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick’s draft decisions at the cornerback position have been heavily influenced by what he perceives to be the position’s minimum athletic requirements; although Belichick’s philosophy has proved erratic at best in practice, it would be a surprise if he were to abandon his typical mode of operation in April.

Now that the NFL Scouting Combine is in the rear-view mirror, we can start isolating prospects who fit what the Patriots need and want in this year’s draft. I have developed a list of 20 prospects who could become Patriots in April based on scheme fit, on field performance, as well as, confirmed combine numbers.

This is a realistic view of players who could be by the Patriots in the first three rounds of the draft.  The list will be updated throughout the off-season with players being added and subtracted as the off-season goes on.

Aaron Dobson has some ridiculous hands.

The Patriots have a bit of history with Marshall wide receivers. Troy Brown and Randy Moss certainly have left their mark here in New England.

I had the pleasure of speaking with former Marshall wide receiver Aaron Dobson today, a 2013 NFL Draft prospect that is ready to re-introduce himself to NFL fans.

Desmond Trufant had an impressive Senior Bowl – where did he go in this Senior Bowl only Mock Draft?

NEPD Editor: Mike Loyko

Everyone loves mock drafts and everyone loves seeing which prospects will be available to them when their team is on the clock. However, what would the draft look like if it was made up only of players who played in the Senior Bowl?

After watching all 100+ players this week in Mobile, AL I decided to put together a mock draft using only the players who participated in the Senior Bowl week festivities.

Take a look at my Senior Bowl only mock draft.
