Back when making their Monday Night Football schedule, I’d imagine these were ESPN’s thoughts:

“Oh boy, we’ve got Cassel vs. Brady, Pioli, Crennel and Haley vs. Belichick. Two playoff teams! Jamaal Charles, Eric Berry! This game’s gonna be an instant classic. HUGE ratings!”

ESPN’s thoughts now: “Aw shoot.”

As we get ready for Tyler Palko, Jackie Battle and Jon McGraw to come into Foxboro on Monday night, here are some of my thoughts leading into the game:

Patriots vs Steelers: Keys to Defeat

Patriots lose to Steelers

The Patriots will need to come together as a defensive unit to salvage their hopes for another Superbowl run.

Even the most optimistic Patriots fans out there have to notice the holes in this team at this point, right? I’m a pretty even keeled sports fan.

Through years of talking to sports fans (typically Boston sports fans), there’s nothing I hate more than the “sky is falling” sports fan who immediately wants to blow up the team, blow up the coaching staff, etc. etc. after a big loss.

Patriots vs Cowboys: Keys to Victory

Rob Ryan Patriots

Hopefully, the Patriots won't see "The Sheepdog" for a long time.

It was a great game, but I’m definitely hoping we don’t have to see Rob Ryan again until next season when he’s a head coach somewhere.

All in all, it was vintage Tom Brady and vintage Patriots. Sometimes games aren’t easy and I think it’s good for a team to have to go through some adversity. Brady wasn’t playing at his best against Dallas, but it was really nice to see the defense bail him out, rather than vice versa.

Un-Coordinated?

Three Amazing Coaches

Who will be trying to fill Weis' and Crennel's shoes in 2010?

Think back to February of 2005. Charlie Weis, Romeo Crennel, and Bill Belichick gathered in a celebratory embrace.  A knowing look reveals that this will be the last time that all three of them will be on the same staff.

Dean Pees Steps Down as Defensive Coordinator

Friday, January 15th, 2010

After four seasons at the helm of the Patriots defense, defensive coordinator Dean Pees will join former Patriots Rodney Harrison and Tedy Bruschi on the sidelines. Pees’ retirement comes just 5 days after a 33-14 defeat at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens in the first round of the NFL Playoffs.

Speculation abounds as to who will replace Pees as the Patriot’s defensive coordinator next year. Many outside names, such as Rob Ryan and Dick Jauron have surfaced, as well as internal hires Mike Patricia (LB Coach) and Pepper Johnson (DL Coach).
