Top Prospect Cal QB Davis Webb

College Football is nearly back and I don’t know if I could of waited another weekend. While the full slate of games won’t be kicking off for another week, this weekend we get Hawaii v Cal on Friday night from Sydney, Australia. While this match-up may not knock your socks off, there are a number of good reason to watch this game.

The first of which is that the Pac-12 North Division is wide open and with Cal’s offensive weapons they could certainly make a run at the division title. However, they need to replace QB Jared Goff and they are hoping that Texas Tech transfer Davis Webb can be that guy.

For Hawaii this is the first game for new Head Coach Nick Rolovich who was a former Hawaii QB. Rolovich is highly thought of and the one thing that many people expect is that he will improve an offense that was anemic last year.

Here are the prospects to know and watch in this game: (more…)

Primetime Prospects to Watch: Week 9

Thursday, October 29th, 2015

NEPD Staff Writer CJ Sousa

Every week is important, but no month is more important in the college football season than November.  With that in mind, let’s look at who’s been our biggest movers up and down the draft board thus far.

Who’s Up:

Paxton Lynch, QB, Memphis:  Let’s start with Lynch.  He’s gone from just “another guy” to potentially “the guy”.  We knew he had the physical attributes, but we didn’t know he would develop so quickly.  He is far from a finished product, but his raw physical attributes, impressive size and surprising accuracy on his throws has entered him into the conversation for first quarterback off the board.

Andrew Billings, NT, Baylor: One of my overall favorite players in the country.  Billings has easily been the most dominant player along the Baylor defensive front all season long.  Easily tosses offensive linemen out of his way, as he also has great technique and keeps his pad level down.  He has thrown his name into day one consideration as of this moment.

Corey Coleman, WR, Baylor:  If James Jones is a ‘touchdown machine’ for the Packers, Coleman is a touchdown guarantee for Baylor. (more…)

Primetime Prospects to Watch: Week 6

Friday, October 9th, 2015

NEPD Staff Writer CJ Sousa

NEPD is going with a slightly different format this week for Primetime Prospects to Watch.  We are going to highlight the top prospects in the national games you will be watching from noon to past midnight.

We are inching closer to the half-way point of the college football season, where teams (and more importantly prospects) start to distinguish themselves and give clarity from preseason predictions.

In Week 6, the game of the week is #23 Cal vs #5 Utah pitting together two of the nations top offensive prospects, Cal QB Jared Goff and Utah RB Devontae Booker.  NFL bottom feeders such as the Cleveland Browns and Houston Texans will be eagerly watching as the top QB prospect Jared Goff leads an undermanned team into Utah, who has looked as strong as any team in the country thus far.

For my against the spread crowd, my lock of the week is Georgia (-2.5) in Knoxville to face Tennessee. (more…)
