After a series of OTA sessions and two days of mandatory minicamp, head coach Bill Belichick called off the final day of practices on June 13. In turn, upwards of 90 players departed from 1 Patriot Place blaring Alice Cooper’s “Schools Out” from their stereo speakers.

Well, something to that effect.

Much has been made of New England’s defensive back signings thus far in the free agent period; the Patriots re-signed slot cornerback Kyle Arrington to a four-year, $16 million contract, left cornerback Aqib Talib to a one-year, $5 million deal, and added former Arizona Cardinals strong safety Adrian Wilson on a three-year pact to solidify the defensive backfield. However, although these three signings do provide the team with a measure of certainty relative to their pre-free agency defensive backfield, their long-term stability at cornerback and safety is still a concern.

After a slow start to the free agent period, the Patriots have jumped in head first on day four. So far (and it’s only 1:30) the Patriots have four confirmed high profile veteran visitors and have already finished two contracts today.

Three accomplished pro bowl defenders and one restricted free agent are in the building, presumably putting together deals. We knew it was just a matter of time before the Patriots started unveiling their game plan and that time appears to be now. Here are the updates for day four and where things stand now.
