After selecting four defensive players to start the 2015 NFL Draft, the Patriots were back on the clock for the 111th pick. They finally chose to add to the offensive side of the ball and selected Tre Jackson (OL, Florida State), former teammate and linemate of Bryan Stork.

2015 NFL Draft: Patriots Make a Trade and a Pick

After selecting Texas DT Malcom Brown and Jordan Richards (DB, Stanford) with their first two picks, the Patriots traded the 96th pick to the Cleveland Browns.

With the 97th pick, the Patriots then selected Geneo Grissom (DE, Oklahoma).

After a long wait with smells of deep-dish pizza wafting through the night air, Bill Belichick and his New England Patriots finally were on the clock. After some initial confusion regarding a trade, the Patriots went down to Texas and picked themselves up a brand new defensive lineman — Malcom Brown.

I’m baaaaaack! It’s been a long time since my last post, but it’s almost Draft day! I’m trying to shift my focus into more analytical work and his piece is in that vein. I have looked into this topic a lot lately and will have more to come soon, but since we’re nearing Thursday night I’ll keep it short and hopefully more relevant to the moment. The national holiday that is the NFL Draft is just around the corner.  If you’re anything like me, you have looked at 4,291 mock drafts, 782 big boards and filled out some countless mock drafts on your own.  Not because you are actually thinking that is how the real draft will go, as we know it takes just one trade to throw a whole entire mock draft off.

It’s kind of like the movie Jack Frost.  Snow dad is better than no dad.  Truly, fake NFL drafts are better than no NFL drafts.  Rest easy fans, the real deal is around the corner. (more…)
