The more i read about dawson i like has playmaking skills with nice hands with speed. Hope see him at FS making plays before we know it.
Just gets better and better. Not only did the Raiders get P J Hall, they also just stole Arden Key. Wish we could trade drafts with them, lol.
Wait wait…..after all that garbage we still don’t have a 3rd round pick? So we essentially gave up a 2nd and 3rd this year for a 4th and a second next year?
Dont like the trade because like Hall but before draft today Mike Loyko thought Dawson was a fit for Pats D so take that for what that worth
We all bravely tried to put lipstick on the pig that was our round 1, but I just can’t figure out why they would pass on a TE like Goedert to get a same round (probably higher than 43) pick NEXT season, and then to take Duke Dawson over a guy like PJ Hall. Hall could have been a huge difference maker. He averaged double digit sacks every year for four years in college, and often had 5 or 6 blocked kicks/punts. To generate that type of pressure from the DT position, I just can’t get over it.
WoW! Why am I surprised? PJ Hall goes 1 pick after they draft some random CB.
I think they will be trading up soon for Pass Rusher or Quarterback.
I feel bad for Mike mostly. He puts so much time and effort into this site. And the regular guys who bring so much knowledge too.
It’s just frustrating to watch player after player go to division rival after division rival.
Bill has ruined this draft experience for me. Make a pick for Goodness sake!!!! Someone with a little name recognition. So us slobs can feel good about our team. Generate some synergy.
Rant over. Goodnight guys. Best of luck with this circus
Hate the trade for CB Dawson the DT hall pick right after smh
Bill ruins every draft experience.
BB not the guy you bring to a party but the results are very good so far.
1 Trent Brown a very good offensive tackle will help greatly with loss of Soldier.
2 Both Georgia Bulldogs picked yesterday are excellent players.
3 We received a secound round pick for next year.
4 Duke Dawson cornerback was a great pick he will greatly help loss of Butler is extremely fast.
5 If you want something to be excited about Sony Michel could be a 1,000 yard runner in his first year.
6 Finally the offensive line has been helped greatly two solid additions for Brady and hang in there as I think a trade up for pass rusher is coming soon.
Thank the good Lord I’m not watching this tonight. I think I would have thrown a brick thru the TV. What’s wrong with actually making a pick? If you are a few players away from getting back to the Bowl why trade down and accumulate bums who will never make the team? I am sick to my stomach reading the list of players going to other teams. I swear Bill is so infuriating. This draft could have been salvaged with a stud DE or OLB. You can find those guys, I don’t know, maybe in the SECOND ROUND!!!!!
Trader Bill, gets the Bears 105, an early 4th, and next year 2. As trades go, excellent value, but would we rather he actually makes some picks?
Yea that’s kind of the point of the draft, making some picks. Value of this draft was supposed to be 2nd and 3rd rd’s and we get an undersized CB WOW! Kid better come with wings. Not a LB or DE in the mix how is that possible? Make no mistake I like both 1st rd picks but really 2/3’s of our mocks here would have yielded a stronger results.
Great F’N job trading back just far enough to let the team that just took our 6th ring get the TE who could pair well with and possibly one day replace Gronk. Lovely.
Looks like we got a 4th round pick to move back
Sure do wish somebody would say what we got in the trade! Ridiculous.
Could have gotten Goedert, Hubbard
#51 and #117 a 4th rounder
will we pick at 51 and then trade 63 back into the 3rd giving us picks in all rounds?
Are they trying to get win now players (Michel) or stack late round depth pieces?
other then last year BB always has stock piled picks playing percentages since so many picks wash out.
dang traded pick to Lions
terms of trade?
anybody here tonight?
Im here seeing some nice D fall think see why BB did what did OL and RB going now
trade
My latest Mock Draft day 2.
2 Potental trade for two third round picks.
2 Kyle Lauletta QB Richmond
3 Carlton Davis CB Auburn
3 Arden Key DE LSU
Let’s Go Pats and stay aggresive!
Trade the 63rd for a 3rd rd pick i would add speed on D if was BB some nice role specific rushers later in draft.
2nd Fred Warner Will LB coverage Cover TE’s Big slot WR as well
2nd –Dorian O’daniel Box saf cover rb’s slot WR.
3rd – Issaac Yiadom CB smart player good will back to ball
Trade the 63rd for a 3rd rd pick
2nd –Kirk WR going with BB plan so far lost linemen drafted OL lost RB drafted RB now lost cooks with trade now get WR. Not saying agree just following along so far lol
2nd – Luke Fauk QB Seem like Pats qb love how all football love his sports science on him like how off the field is like Brady in the way he eats trains. Like how from any throwing Platform his throwing motion doesn’t change. traded lost QB so draft one early just going with theme here lol.
3rd – Dorian O’daniel Box saf cover rb’s slot WR helps bring speed to back 7 for the space and tackle league as we know it now. When Foles got ball out on average of 2.30 sec we couldnt get him to hold onto the ball at all. Eagles rush was supposed to be top notch but still put up 33 on them since there back end was weak.
Trade okay but we now need Defense not WR and QB. I’d be very unhappy if we ignore def front. Must have a couple LB’s or LB and DE out of the next two picks.
I agree steve all the way just going along with BB theme so far on that Mock with how drafted so far in the 1st rd.
Hoping for:
Nathan Shepherd
Justin Reid or Jessie Bates
Fred Warner, Oren Burks or Lorenzo Carter, maybe Arden Key
Ian Thomas
Carlton Davis
Expecting Jacob Martin OLB in the 6th or 7th
I’m hoping we trade #43 for a later second and third round pick, and in that case I’d love to see us go:
2nd (trade) – EDGE Josh Sweat, Florida State
2nd – QB Kyle Lauletta, Richmond
3rd (trade) – ILB Oren Burks, Vanderbilt
Let’s get some defense!!
I’d be shocked if BB doesn’t go def today. Who and where exactly no idea but we should have some good options. Hoping for both a LB and a DE asap and a CB wouldn’t be objectionable.
After trade for Trent Brown. Here is what I hope Pats do tonight.
2 Justin Reid S Stanford
2 Sam Hubbard DE Ohio State
Patriots trade with 49ers for Trenton Brown LT 6-8, 355 there is the huge offensive tackle
we looked for. Also in trade Patriots exchange a 3rd pick for a 5th round of 49ers.
This trade makes so much sense.
Great work Patriots!
Dan, isn’t the guy a RIGHT Tackle though?
&
Also has INJURY ISSUES?
Maybe I’m missing something, but It doesn’t make sense too me at all.
A (RT)W/ injury issues – to replace the #1 & the #2 LEFT TACKLE?
The Patriots & 49ers are talking TRADE for OT Trent Brown 6’8″ 350, 25 age, & #143 (5th) for #95 (3d) pending a physical.
Liked that rumor better a few hours ago when we were only giving up a late round pick. Is a 3rd too steep for a player drafted in the seventh 2 years ago?
Getting a 5th #143 means the Patriots give up 48 spots in the draft to get Brown .
Is he a quality starter at LT?
Looks like trade just went through as reported by nfl.com Are you happy with the trade Russell?
Yes I like the deal; cost $1.9 mil for 2018, and experienced player, and 48 draft spots is very fair cost. Mostly a ROT, could Cannon move to LOT?
Most likely day two pick is DL Tyquan Lewis
I’m hearing the Bears want Lorenzo Carter at # 39. So Patriots would need to move up to get him. #43 (470) & 5th #143 (34) to get Tampa Bays #38.(510).
Agree a good deal for starting RT. Wonder if Cannon’s rehab going okay though, any thoughts? Can’t see Cannon going to LT he didn’t work out there very well a couple years ago or is it just depth?
2Lorenzo Carter or fred Warner or Oliver CB
2 Kyle Lauletta
3 Jeff Holland DE or Ogbonnia Okoronkwo DE
Also Josh Sweet and Duke Ejiofor at DE’s. Many good players to pick from today. So far so good.
2nd – Dallas Goedert or Harold Landry
2nd – Sam Hubbard or Orlando Brown
3rd – Arden Key or P J Hall
Don’t think it will be Orlando Brown but BB does it his way, who knows? I’m looking for LB/DE today, have to wait and see.
mock draft 4/27: 2nd and 3rd rounds only
2nd:Harold Landry DE or trade back for another 3rd plus a 4th maybe even a 5th.
2nd:Isaiah Oliver CB
3rd:Kyle Lauletta QB
Day two for Patriots. Here is what I hope.
2 Ogbonnia Okoronkwo DE Oklahoma
2 Kyzir White SS West Virginia
3 Dorrance Armstrong DE Kansas
I am feeling better about the Michel pick now than last night, as to my mind this demonstrates an effort to select players that will enable the team to win now. I know that is cliche, especially because every coach wants to win every year. But if there was truly any doubt in Brady’s ability and/or willingness to play for the next 2-3 years then a greater effort may have been made to draft a QB. Perhaps Coach Belichick will wait until next years draft after so many QB needy teams reached for one this year. I don’t know college ball, so I would like to know which QBs will turn pro next year. Perhaps he will select a sleeper QB such as JT Barrett in the 7th, which is something I have been clamoring for all week.
My biggest concern with Michel are his extensive injury history and fumble issues. People are comparing him to Kamara, although I suspect that is overly hyped. Kamara is likely a slightly better runner and a much better pass catcher. But if Michel is that good then he very well could be all that is needed to win another ring. My greatest confusion concerning this pick is that we have Jeremy Hill, James White, Rex Burkhead, Brandon Bolden, James Develin and Mike Gillislee already on the roster. No way they carry that many backs on the 53, and some of these players are high quality.
Conversely, they might be threadbare in the front seven. Considering they were 1st offensively and last defensively last year, AND despite a 503 yard, 3 TD 0 pick performance by the GOAT they still lost the Superbowl last year, I would have preferred they go defense. Especially because Landry was/is still available. He is being compared to Vic Beasely on NFL.com. I am a huge value guy. I see far greater value in selecting a top 15 rated prospect 31 overall than selecting a 2nd round graded RB (a position far more easily filled.)
However, we should consider Derek Rivers might be the edge rusher he was drafted to be upon returning from knee surgery, Adrian Clayborne was brought in to help them rush the QB, and Belichick might be expecting to get Danny Shelton to play somewhere approaching his value and talent level as perceived when he was drafted 12th overall just a couple years ago.
Perhaps those three additions, plus the return of a rested Hightower, might catapult this defense into the next level. Additionally, Harold Landry, Arden Key and PJ Hall are still on the board.
The Wynn pick makes sense because most boards had him as the 16th best player. Also, I believe he would have been higher if he were taller. I never played the game so I could be way off base, but it seems as though height only matters at the LT position because it typically corresponds to longer arms. I have read Wynn has long arms despite being only 6’2″ Furthermore, it seems as though being shorter would be better provided you could still maintain a greater reach. Better because the lower center of gravity would add leverage and power when “wrestling” a rushing defender. Also better in not obstructing QB’s view of the playing field (I recognize this is more significant to the interior line positions.) Plus, Scarnecchia is believed by many to be one of the greatest offensive line coaches of all time, to my understanding. I will trust his appraisal of any prospective linemen.
The more I read about Wynn the more I like the pick.
Michel I was surprised Patriots drafted him but quite happy I think he will be
Patriots best Running Back.
I agree. Last night I was reading about rumors his knee was bone on bone but after thinking on that decided Bill must have had that checked out and found no cause for concern. This should give us one of the best RB’s in the league. I remember watching him take over for Chubb in 2015 and just dominate. We should see some good football this year again.
Second Round for the Patriots;
#43- Lorenzo Carter , or Tyquan Lewis
#63- TE Ian Thomas, or Anthony Miller
#95- QB Luke Falk , or Mike White
Carter and Falk I think wouldbe great picks for Patriots. The Thomas PickI don’t think we need.
Gronk has come down to earth andfree agent Niklas if healthy will be a great addition.
That would be ideal. Really like Thomas to develop his game behind Gronk.
There are a couple of good fits left, e.g. TE Goedert, DE Hubbard or S Reid, but I think missing out on the top tier LBs combined with the age of Chung would make Fred Warner a logical choice. He can be that rangy LB but should also be able to cover TEs man-to-man.
I also think Lauletta is the likely choice at #63.
I like Fred Warner and Lorenzo Carter as the best of the LB’s available. Duke Edjiofor and Josh Sweat at DE and Ronnie Harrison and Justin Reed for Saf. Any one of those at #43 would look good to me.
Put Rasheem Green in with those DE’s too. One more good option.
43-Justin Reid/Ronnie Harrison
Trade down 63- Rasheem Green/Josh Sweat
95- Maurice Hurst
I like the way you’re thinking, Safety, DE or sliding value pick like Hurst with the med issued. I would add Arden Key to that list. Maybe Bill can straighten him out and he’s a real steal in 2nd round.
But we all know if Bill keeps these two picks he will draft a TE and QB.
Nothing to help that anemic pass rush and lethargic pass coverage
Heart question scares me off Hurst. Loved his play and had him originally in my 1st round block but as I say “heart question”.
they will take Goedert TE or Anthony miller WR so all us Pats fans freak out lol
#43 Lorenzo Carter (becomes a coverage LB)
#63 Kyle Lauletta
#95 Trade for a 4th and 5th.
