Tebow has accomplished more than Mallet and is a proven winner at Florida and in turning Denver around. Tebow has the intangibles that you can’t teach-keep him. And keep Sims over Slater. Slater can’t catch and Sims will be a good nfl receiver when given the chance, hopefully by the Patriots. Obviously those 2 td’s from Tebow to Sims won’t go unoticed and NE won’t be able to slip Sims on the practice squad.

  2. steve earle says:

Keeping Tebow would be poor stratagy because he would be only on the bench. If the worst happened and Tom went down it would be Mallett who come off the bench and if cut Tebow could be resigned easily as no other team will pick him up.

  3. Pete says:

If there’s no value at SS off the waiver wire, I’m thinking Adrian Wilson makes this team considering our depth.
I’m torn over the idea of cutting Washington and keeping Tebow or keeping an extra DE with all the injuries there right now.

    here’s what I came up with…
    QB (2) Brady, Mallett
RB (6) Ridley, Vereen, Bolden, Blount, Washington
    FB (1) Develin
WR (6) Amendola, Thompkins, Dobson, Boyce, Edelman, Slater
    TE (3) Gronkowski, Hoomanawanui, Sudfeld
    C (1) Wendell
G (4) Mankins, Connolly, Cannon, Kline
    T (3) Vollmer, Solder, Svitek
DE (5) Ninkovich, Jones, Francis, Benard, Buchanan
DT (4) Wilfork, Kelly, Forston, Vellano
    ILB(3) Spikes, Fletcher, Beauharnais
    OLB(3) Mayo, Hightower, Collins
CB (5) Talib, Dennard, Arrington, Ryan, Cole
    SS (2) Wilson, Wilson
    FS (3) McCourty, Gregory, Harmon
    ST (3) Gostkowski, Aiken, Mesko

Pete, interesting thoughts on the roster projection. I’m just not sure that Wilson, who turns 34 in October, really has the upside to warrant keeping on the roster given that he didn’t play particularly well against pro backups. I ended up going with Ebner because of a combination of his youth, salary, and special-teams value.

    • steve earle says:

I like most of your 53 only Adrian Wilson concerns me though Matt keeping Ebner instead doesn’t fill me with confidence either. It could be that the wavers might provide an alternative, not a starter but an upgraded backup?

    • Gerry Power says:

Adrian Willson has not shown the on field strength he was projected to add, so he should go. Gregory has proven to be a liability, especially at the end of last year. One can hope that a waivered FA can be added this week.

To my eye Mesko is not a clear choice. Allen clearly has skill, and could do the punting job for less of a cap hit. Only Mesko’s holding job saves his spot, just barely.
