2013 NFL Draft Prospects: Potential Patriots in the Las Vegas Bowl

Desmond Trufant 2013 NFL Draft

Desmond Trufant (CB, Washington) is a talented cornerback, but he has some deficincies.

The Las Vegas Bowl doesn’t have quite the top-end prospects that the Poinsettia Bowl did, but their a couple of defensive backs available that might be very intriguing to the New England Patriots.

Here are the 2013 NFL Draft prospects to watch on Washington and Boise State.

#6 Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington (#16 in our CB Rankings)
Trufant has some NFL bloodlines (brother Marcus) and can certainly cover receivers down the field. He shows good footwork and has some of the loosest hips in this class of cornerbacks. He doesn’t tackle that well, which is a main reason he has yet to crack our top ten cornerbacks. If Ras-I Dowling’s health is still a concern, Trufant might be a late day two option.

#7 DJ Harper, RB, Boise State (#25 in our RB Rankings)
The Patriots are pretty well stocked at running back, but Harper just seems like a guy that the Patriots might take a look at. He’s had a couple of injuries, but is a dynamic runner that can contribute on all three downs. Harper could get brought on as a late-round or UDFA guy.

#5 Jamar Taylor, CB, Boise State (#21 in our CB Rankings)
Taylor is a versatile cornerback that can play both inside and outside. I’m not as high on him as most draft writers, but he is a guy that could shoot up draft boards with a big combine workout.

Other Prospects to watch:
Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE, Washington (Not Draft Eligible, but future 1st rounder)
Drew Schaefer, OC, Washington
