Strengths: Reyes is a strong, athletic and powerful interior defender – Reyes carriers his weight well, not much body fat, could actually add some weight without affecting quickness – Explosive first step, times the snap and fires off the ball – Delivers a punch at initial contact and gets good leverage – Displays excellent lateral ability, with his ability to slant and stunt into each gap – Gets good penetration and makes plays in backfield – Does a nice job, of coming down the line and making plays – Has above average instincts, has a feel for where the ball is going – Shows really good awareness for screens – Tough to move off the LOS, has the ability to take on blockers and anchor – Faced many double teams, showed the ability to split them and collapse once he feels like he’s giving up ground – Upper body strength allows him to get extension with arms – Has the speed to develop into an interior pass rusher – Scheme diverse, some teams view him as a NT, can play 3-Tech and athletic enough to play 3-4 DE – Displayed very good flexibility and natural bend at the combine – Chases down a lot of ball carries and cleans up on tackles – Displays a very solid motor – Team Captain
Weaknesses: Inconsistent pad level, gets too upright – Can struggle to get off blocks – Turns his shoulders, and can get washed down the line – Not a very good pass rusher at this point – Can be susceptible to misdirection plays and traps due to his aggressiveness off the snap – Needs to learn how to hand fight better, gets his hands slapped away and repositioned to easily – Change of direction could be better
