2012 NFL Combine: Who Will Impress? Who Will Disappoint?

Players Who Will Disappoint:
* Just because a player might disappoint at the combine in no way means I don’t think they are a good player who don’t value them highly, I just think they may not shine as bright as some others.

Michael Brockers, DT, LSU
Brockers is coming into the combine with a huge buzz surrounding him. Truth is some of this flaws are being overlooked. Compared to some of the other DTs in his workout group he will likely be overshadowed here.

Juron Criner, WR, Arizona
A lot of people have moved Criner up their boards after the Senior Bowl. I just don’t see it. What I see is someone who isn’t very explosive and has inconsistent hands.

Coby Fleener, TE, Stanford
After watching every game Fleener played this year, I just don’t think he is as fast as he is being made our to be. Fleener needs to run a decent time or risk being passed by Orson Charles and Dwayne Allen as top TE in the draft.

Dont’a Hightower, ILB, Alabama
I am really high on Hightower as a player, however he’s not a fast LB by any means. I think people who aren’t as tied into the draft my be surprised by how slow he will run in the 40.

Rishaw Johnson, OG, Cal (PA)
Johnson appeared to be a little out of shape at the Senior Bowl and struggled to play center. I also think he has some other questions to answer this week, in the interviews.

Dwight Jones, WR, North Carolina
I expect Jones to run much slower than most people do. I want to see him be more dynamic and quick in and out of breaks, I think these drills may exposes those flaws in his game.

Luke Kuechly, ILB, Boston College
Kuechly won’t run fast and won’t test off the charts. Guess what that means to me? Nothing! Kuechly makes up for every single bit of it with his instincts and cognitive ability to understand what the offense is trying to do. Kuechly is a top 15 pick in my mind.

Kellen Moore, QB, Boise State
I have said my piece of Kellen Moore. Great kid, smart QB. This setting won’t highlight his strong points.

Chris Rainey, RB, Florida
Why am I putting Rainey in the “disappoint” category? I still think Rainey will run one of the fastest times in Indy. However, people and Rainey himself have set the expectations so high, that I don’t believe they will be able to be met. I would guess he runs right around a 4.3 flat.

Zebrie Sanders, OT, Florida State
Sanders biggest weakness is his feet. They aren’t very quick and can’t get them moving fast enough. In speed rushing drills he will be exposed.

Ahh most were wrong about Kuechly. I always thought he looked plenty athletic.

  2. TD says:

I’m interested to see what Marquize Maize, WR out ‘Bama can do. He could be a really good #2/3 WR and is a big time punt returner, not sure if he returns kickoffs. He almost hit a punt to the house in national championship, but came up with knee or ankle injury.
