Offensive line is another great position to watch at the combine, they can’t flash their strength other than in the bench press, but that’s usually pretty easy to see on tape. What we do get to see is improved footwork and technique. This is going to be an especially important event for the second or third tier tackles. It’s pretty easy to see that Kalil, Reiff, Martin, Adams and Glenn are the top tackles in the draft and will likely all be taken in the first round. After those guys comes a group of players including Jeff Allen, Andrew Datko, Bobby Massie, Matt McCants, Nate Potter, Zebrie Sanders and Mitchell Schwartz.

One of those guys will need to emerge based on athleticism, improved technique or interviews. If I had to guess one guy who may emerge it would be Matt McCants. He was raw at UAB, but sometimes it’s just a matter of getting another set of eyes on a prospect that can make all the difference. I expect to see much improved technique after going through the Senior Bowl and training.

There are a lot of versatile linemen who will likely be able to play guard or tackle at the next level. Guys like Allen, Bergstrom, Glenn, Kelemete, Osemele, Schwartz, Silatolu and Washington may be listed as tackles, but they’ll likely be guards at the next level and are among the best guards in this deep 2012 class.

At center, there’s a nice top 5 with Peter Konz, Ben Jones, Mike Brewster, David Molk and Philip Blake. For Molk and Blake, a lot will depend on scheme as far as interest. Molk will likely be looked at by teams with zone blocking schemes, while Blake may be limited to power schemes.Molk will sit out of drills and workouts with a ruptured tendon in his right foot.
