2012 NFL Draft Season Has Begun

The college football season has ended. For all but the Patriots and seven other lucky teams, the NFL season has ended as well.

Here are some links from around our network to get you started for your 2012 NFL Draft preparations.

Check out our 2012 NFL Draft Rankings and Scouting Reports first. If you want to go even more in-depth, check out the scouting notes in our Film Room archive – compiled from close to 120 games from the 2011 NCAA season.

You can find new mock drafts every week on NEPatriotsDraft.com each and every week. Here are the latest three from myself, Doug, and Mike.

  1. Ryan says:

What are the Patriots greatest needs:
In order from greatest need to least.
I have this so far: S, OLB, DL, WR, CB, OG/C

  2. TD says:

I expect BB to get value, whatever it means. Probably trade one of the 1st rounders to get a future 1st and a 2nd as he always does.

In any case, we are going to need depth at LB, CB & S. Probably say goodbye to: Guyton, Brown and others.

On offense we need some WR depth and one other OL. I don’t buy that we need a center, unless someone like Konz was there.

One thing that absolutely needs an upgrade is that kickoff return team. No one now fills that role as returner since Tate went bye bye.

  3. Ryan says:

Could be a year when we see a lot of good players go. We don’t have a lot of cap room this year.

    • D.T. says:

Which good players? Welker? Franchise tag. Guyton? BJGE? Cuz I’m not seeing these good players. Faulk will join the staff as a coach. Vereen will be healthy. Ridley will be our feature back. ANd Woodhead will be Faulk 2.0. I like it.

Branch is either going to be back on a cheap contract or he’ll retire. He’s not going to get another situation as nice as NE.

Hoyer will be either signed-and-traded, resigned, or let go. It’s okay since we’ve got Mallett.

Koppen could come back but he’ll walk or come back cheap. We don’t NEED him. Ninkovich will get a medium contract- he’s a system type player that is loyal to NE.

As for Anderson, he’ll resign. Carter may come back on a 1-year. Ellis will retire.

I don’t think we’ll see any really good player go.

  4. Bruschi54 says:

Laron Landry from Washington Redskins is FA, he will be expensive but is a great player if they could swing it financially.

    • D.T. says:

He’s kind of a d-bag if you’ve every followed the Redskins. Also, he got burned all over the place in Vick’s 50+ dismantling of the Redskins a year back.

  5. D.T. says:

I love the Dolphins’ draft choices. IF the round falls that way, I’d be overjoyed.

They have us getting Mark Barron AND Vinny Curry. That alone would boost our defense 10 spots in the rankings. Imagine Barron and Chung in the backfield, Love-Wilfork-Curry-Carter/Anderson in the trenches. Oh, and Dowling/Arrington/McCourty as CBs. Pretty sweet.

    • TD says:

The Fins need a coach and QB before they need defense.

Our DLine needs will depend on whether BB goes back to the 3-4 or not. Go back to the 3-4 and we need LB depth, stay in 4-3 and we have 2 productive free agents (Carter, Anderson) and will need DE depth.

I would expect him to get a fit or two at safety through free agency.

      • D.T. says:

No, I meant that the Dolphins Mock Draft has the PATRIOTS (us) getting Barron and Curry. That’s a dream draft.
