As part of our 2012 NFL Draft coverage, we’ll be scouting all 35 FBS bowl games – you can find most games here at, but there will also be some games at,, and as well.

You can expect a primer of the prospects we’ll be watching in the days leading up to each bowl, as well as a Film Room breakdown of how the 2012 NFL Draft prospects performed.

Up first is the New Mexico Bowl, featuring Temple vs. Wyoming.

Top Prospect: RB Bernard Pierce

Pierce has been a very productive runner for the Owls over the last couple of years. He has the ability to be an every-down back in the NFL if he can trust his reads rather than trying to do too much with his great athleticism.

Others Worth Watching: OLB Adrian Robinson, OG Derek Dennis

Top Prospect: DB Tashaun Gipson

Gipson is a big defensive back (6’0″/205) that has experience playing corner and free safety. It will be interesting to see if Gipson can improve on his career high three interceptions on Saturday.

Others Worth Watching: LB Brian Hendricks, DE Josh Biezuns

  1. Troy Ballard says:

As someone who lives in Philadelphia, and attends all of Temple’s home games, I can say that Bernard Pierce is much better than most people imagine.

The dude has a relentless motor, excellent downfield vision, and a wicked stiff arm! Without a question Pierce is the MVP of Temple’s football program, and I can’t wait to see what he does against a weak Wyoming team.

I actually would like to see the Eagles draft another Philly prospect with Pierce, as he would bring a nasty one-two punch with LeSean McCoy.
