NEPD Prospect Preview: Week 7

Jerel Worthy NFL Draft Patriots

Jerel Worthy (DL, MSU) is just one of the prospects we'll be taking a look at this weekend.

The NCAA football slate might not have a lot of sexy games this week, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t a ton of 2012 NFL Draft prospects to look at.

Here is who we’re scouting this week.

Miss a week? Check out the Film Room Archive.

I’ll be scouting two Big Ten matchups this week, Michigan State vs Michigan and Ohio State vs Illinois – you can check out the prospect previews down below.

Our staff scouts Mike Loyko and Stephen Sheehan are scouting Stanford vs Washington State and Auburn vs Florida respectively.

Matthew Elder at our Bills Draft site has three games on his plate: Baylor v. Texas A&M, Georgia Tech vs Virginia, and Miami vs North Carolina.

Matt Deem at is scouting the Alabama vs Mississippi State game loaded with top prospects, while Chad Pullen at our Dolphins Draft site is watching the Kansas State vs Texas Tech game.

Michigan State vs Michigan

#99 Jerel Worthy, DL, Michigan State
Worthy is a Top-10 prospect for us, with his power and quick first step wreaking havoc against opposing offenses.

#10 Chris Norman, OLB, Michigan State
Explosive junior linebacker that has a lot of potential.

#39 Trenton Robinson, S, Michigan State
Balanced safety – want to watch his tackling against the slippery Wolverines.

#8 Kirk Cousins, QB, Michigan State
Polished QB that still needs to show he has an NFL caliber skill-set.

#16 Denard Robinson, ATH, Michigan
Incredible athlete that will have to switch from the QB position in the NFL.

#68 Mike Martin, DL, Michigan
Lunch-pail nose tackle that does the dirty work inside. Will be a good pro.

#50 David Molk, OC, Michigan
Smaller pivot that is a good zone-blocker. Can’t wait to see him against Worthy.

Ohio State vs Illinois

We’ve scouted these teams already (OSU vs Ohio State and Illinois vs Northwestern), so we’ll skip the previews and let you wait for the film room reports on these prospects.

Mike Adams, OT, Ohio State
Mike Brewster, OC, Ohio State
Dan Herron, RB, Ohio State
AJ Jenkins, WR, Illinois
Jason Ford, RB, Illinois
Graham Pocic, OC, Illinois

  1. Bill says:

I believe Charlie Finley was a genius owner of a major league sports franchise.

He didn’t have an army of incompetent scouts on his payroll. He simply studied the scouting reports of those who spent their own damn money and did their own damn homework .

I am convinced that one day I will buy a winning lottery ticket which will enable me to buy the Pat’s from someone who should never have been allowed to be the owner of the Pat’s.

I will then hire Doug and Tedy Bruschi to be the talent evaluators of a football franchise which is now on the decline.

I will ask them simple questions to determine their current knowledge of college football players.

Worthy or Dennard? Reiff or Kunz? I know the correct answers…If they don’t, they will be fired and I will hire DT to try to answer those no brainer questions…

  2. Dan says:

I would say DL will be a priority next season, and getting a center in the 2nd will be nice…a few are projected to be there and are highly rated. I see Waters coming back, Cannon will be a stud, if not a star, and Connolly can be great off the bench, especially with this year’s experience at center…doing a great job. He may want out…to start?
