After a small flurry of moves before the season officially starts, New England is now ready to start the season.
The Patriots added a blocker to their roster for tonight’s game against the Miami Dolphins, promoting Thomas Welch from the practice squad. Welch is a swing tackle that was originally drafted by the Patriots in 2010.
In order to make room for Welch, the Patriots released former Iowa linebacker and special-teams standout Jeff Tarpinian.
Tarpinian still has a chance to be placed on injured reserve if he clears waivers.
