Logan Mankins: Patriot for Life

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN.com, the Patriots and guard Logan Mankins have come to terms on a six-year contract.

After the terse back and forth during the 2010 season with the Patriots front office and Mankins’ agent Frank Bauer, this comes as great news for Patriots fans and the Patriots offense alike.

Terms of the deal have yet to be disclosed, but one would assume that Mankins’ 2011 cap figure will be significantly lower than the $10m he was slated to earn under the franchise tag.

The Pats have had a great o line for the last decade and if Solder and Cannon turn out like people say then watch out for another decade with Solder, Mankins, Cannon, and Vollmer. Even with an average center to replace Koppen when he is done will still be one of the best lines in football.

    Outstanding news!

Let’s not forget Marcus Cannon. This young man will be an elite force in the run game when he finishes treatment and gets back into action. I was screaming with joy when the Patriots selected him in the Draft. The New England offensive line is going to be unbelievable.

Allows BB some more flexability to sign someone else. Looks like Left side of OLine is set w/Mankins, Light & Solder for quite some time.

Saw practice the other day and it is incredible to watch Solder & Vollmer swallow up guys on the edge, although they are our guys. Solder has some issues with bull rush, but he is going to be a STUD!

Haynesworth’s deal is $1.5mil this year and Ocho’s is $1.0mil this year. Low cost, low risk, big payoff if they work out. My guess is Carter, Ellis and some others will be better payoffs.

    Big time signing!
