Big 10 Leaders: Top 2012 Draft Prospects

Devon Still Patriots Draft

Devon Still is one of the top 2012 NFL Draft Prospects in the Big 10 Leaders division.

Before the NCAA football season commences, we’re going to give you a quick preview from the vantage point of the 2012 NFL Draft – detailing the top prospect on each of the BCS Conference teams.

Today we look at the Leaders Division of the Big 10 – you can also check out the NFL Draft sleepers for the Big 10: Leaders Division.

Illinois
Graham Pocic, C (6-6/310)

A former tackle and guard, Pocic is an effort and technique guy who excels at making line calls. The Illini only gave up 19 sacks during the 2010 season – close to a school record.

Indiana
Damarlo Belcher, WR (6-3/215)

Teaming up with Tandon Doss the last couple of years, Belcher now has a chance to showcase his own skills. Belcher certainly looks the part of a to NFL Draft prospect, but is going to have to hone his route-running to become anything but a late-round pick.

Ohio State
Mike Brewster, C (6-5/295)

We talked about how you have to watch Brewster this season already, but it bears repeating that he is a nasty, technical blocker that has the smarts to make it in the NFL. Many teams will be looking at this draft prospect come April.

Penn State
Devon Still, DL (6-4/310)

Still has a scheme-diverse build that could play either the 3-tech or the 5-tech. Brings power to both the pass rush and against the run, but needs to become more consistent before he is truly a top 100 prospect.

Purdue
Kawann Short, DL (6-4/310)

Short is a penetrating menace against the run game. Great athleticism and competitive fire put Short on the “short” list of NFL-ready defensive linemen.

Wisconsin
Kevin Zeitler, OL (6-4/320)

Teaming up with Gabe Carimi and John Moffitt the last couple of years will do wonders for keeping you under the radar. Now Zeitler is the top dog on the offensive line, and as his game is very similar to Moffitt’s, should be a top 100 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

Just a note, while you are watching Zeitler, keep your eye on tackle Ricky Wagner and center Peter Konz – they are going to be good ones as well.

Good list, I thought Belcher and Still would still be under the radar at this point.
