Matt Light Patriots

What does the future hold for Matt Light and the Patriots?

NEPD Staff Writer: Doug Kyed

After drafting Nate Solder with their first pick of the 2011 draft, the Patriots have put themselves in an interesting situation regarding the bookends of their offensive line this season. Matt Light being a free agent further complicates that situation.

Had Light been signed an extra year, the decision would have been simple, continue to start Light at LT and groom either Sebastian Vollmer or Solder as the future protector of Tom Brady’s blindside. As it stands, I think the Patriots have six options.

2012 NFL Draft Watchlist: Marvin McNutt

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011
Patriots Marvin McNutt

Marvin McNutt has steadily improved since making the transition from QB to receiver.

Marvin McNutt (6-4/215) has made quite the name for himself after transitioning from Ricky Stanzi’s fellow backup quarterback to his star receiver. He and his Iowa Hawkeyes have a few great games for him to showcase his stuff.

Going up against Nebraska’s star CB Alfonzo Dennard (11/25) will be the most heralded matchup, but solid games against Pitt (9/17) and Michigan State (11/12) are also worth your time.

Alameda Ta'amu

Alameda Ta'amu is not a small man.

Ta’amu (6-3/335) has three great games on his dance card to take a look at. His September 17th tilt with Nebraska will be a reprise of perhaps his best game last year, while his games against Stanford (October 22nd) and Oregon (November 5th) will give us some looks playing against top competition.

2012 NFL Draft Watchlist: Jared Crick

Jared Crick Scouting Report

Jared Crick is our first "Player to Watch" for 2011.

Jared Crick has three fantastic games to watch as the Nebraska Cornhuskers play their first Big-10 schedule this year. An October 8th showdown with Ohio State has certainly lost some luster, but still should be a good test.

An October 1st matchup with Wisconsin and a Thanksgiving Friday barn-burner with Iowa will also be appointment television for the NEPD Staff.
