2012 NFL Draft Watchlist: Jared Crick

Jared Crick Scouting Report

Jared Crick is our first "Player to Watch" for 2011.

Jared Crick has three fantastic games to watch as the Nebraska Cornhuskers play their first Big-10 schedule this year. An October 8th showdown with Ohio State has certainly lost some luster, but still should be a good test.

An October 1st matchup with Wisconsin and a Thanksgiving Friday barn-burner with Iowa will also be appointment television for the NEPD Staff.

Why the Patriots need him:

The 3-4 defensive end position is a spot where the Patriots need to start finding some long-term solutions. Ron Brace, Brandon Deaderick, and others have shown promise at times, but nobody has stepped up to fill the very large shoes left by Richard Seymour.

Why you should watch him:

Crick exhibits that heady play that a rookie would need to make an impact in Bill Belichick’s defense. He has some weaknesses, which you can read about in his 2012 NFL Draft Scouting Report, but his ability to play both the pass and the run from the end position is exactly what the Patriots need.

Billy Winn or Trevor Guyton in rounds 2 or 3 might be better options.

  2. Omnipotent_1 says:

If you’re looking for the next Seymour, Patriots will have to trade up for Coples. Crick would be more of what you already have at DE.

What do you guys know about Kheeston Randall?

    • NEPD says:

Noticed him while watching Sam Acho and Sergio Kindle the last two years. Certainly has the size to play DE for the Patriots. Consistency and motor are a bit of an issue, but he has all the tools.
