Damn Jared you had it cold.
Green Bay selects Mark Ingram RB Alabama
With that, the Patriots are on the clock. Here are the results from Round 1: http://goo.gl/jOsX4
Injuries to Ryan Grant (final year of contract as well). While Starks had a grand coming out in the playoffs last year, and the value that Ingram has this late in the first round. Ted Thompson has a track record of taking the best player available.
great pick…that offense down in cheese country would be frightening.
That and they really need a different look if Rodgers takes a shot to the head again. That game at Detroit was atrocious.
With their guy getting injured last year and winning the bowl anyway, It’s a solid pick for GB.
Mark Ingram to the SuperBowl champs anyone?…
When was the last time we got to the 32nd pick and NO running backs have been taken.
This is a unique draft
the last time a RB went as low as Ingram mite go, was 1984!!! some dude named Greg Bell was picked by the Bills 26th. Every draft has about 3 or 4 RB’s at least go in the first.
Wow lots of surprises in this mock. As tempting as it would be to draft the free falling Mark Ingram, I just can not see the Steelers pulling the trigger on him as running back is not a priority, especially early in the draft no matter how good of value. He offers extreme value late in the first and I would think with both he and Locker still on the board, the Steelers red phone would be burning up. The Steelers could easily trade out of this spot to get Aaron Williams or another target early in the second.
All of that said, the Steelers need help on the defensive line behind Brett Keisel at right defensive end as his backup Nick Eason is a free agent and likely will not be back. Outside of Ziggy Hood, the d-line has some age on it as well. Ohio State defensive end Cameron Heyward is a perfect 5 technique defensive end and the Buckeyes already run a 3-4 similar to what the Steelers run.
For the sake of this draft the Steelers pick Cameron Heyward, but I just do not see him dropping to the Steelers in round 1. If Heyward were to be off the board and the Steelers do not trade out, I see Williams being the pick. Also in consideration would be Baylor nose tackle Phil Taylor.
Thanks for having me & be well.
Dave
The Packers (Jason) are now on the clock for the last pick of Round One.
Very well thought out.
Solid pick as well.
with so many good defensive end prospects in the 1st and 2nd round, Heyward could fall all the way to the 30’s.
ps…Steelers cant beat the Patriots…just sayin
hate the Steelers….hurry up will ya
Agreed
due to a couple of questionable wide reciever picks.
Here is the latest list of selections. http://www.nepatriotsdraft.com/2011-nepd-community-mock-picks
2nd Round Post is live – 2 picks to go in the 1st. http://www.nepatriotsdraft.com/2011/04/2011-nepd-community-mock-draft-2nd-round.html
With the 30th pick in the NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns select Muhammad Wilkerson, DT Temple.
good pick
Thanks,
I figured after the Browns cut Shaun Rogers, going to need a replacement.
Insane value there.
I know!
But people kept reaching, thus he kept falling.
The Bears pick is Leonard Hankerson – WR – Miami U
REACH
the last 5 or 6 picks…most of them were reaches.
Wilkerson or marvin Austin would have been better picks here I think.
If this is the way it went……Hopefully he’ll make me feel better & take Phil Taylor with the #33.
That Mammoth coupled with Big Vfork together will be eating up ppl left and right on the field! Open’s up our line backing core for clear and unidaultarted “production”, never mind helping make the backfield(CB & Safeties) shine at the same time as well.
Patriots select Nate Solder
Would rather have Watkins here age and all. Best tackle left I guess.
Yeah that was my thought, I figured I’d be reaching for him there. But it was him or Ingram. In real life i see Ingram going.
should of taken Ingram then…not a big fan of the Nate Solder pick at 28. Mixed reviews in his evaluation from scouts. And i still feel Belichick can grab guys like Boling or Ijalana in the 2nd round somewhere.
yuck out of all the tackles in the discussion for 1st-2nd round.. Solder is the one i want least. Just not sold on his ability. Not very physical, gets beat too much for someone with his size/speed
Sound’s like that #15 Miami offered could have served well……….
Interesting…..
Last chance for anyone interested in this pick.
Per @TommyDubbs46, the Falcons select Torrey Smith (WR, Maryland)
The Patriots are now on the clock.
The Ravens select Brandon Harris – DB from THE U
Thank you- I wasn’t on the blog-
I might have gone for Jimmy Smith but no worries-
next 3 picks are tough…
Seahawks select Ryan Mallett (QB, Arkansas) at #25.
The Ravens (JMC) are on the clock. Updated list of picks made so far:
http://www.nepatriotsdraft.com/2011-nepd-community-mock-picks
The Saints select Martez Wilson (LB, Illinois)
Martez Wilson at 24th, most people would say 24 is about 15 picks too high for him.
With Carimi and Smith off the board, the Philadelphia Eagles select offensive lineman Mike Pouncey at 23rd Overall
well…we were cruisin
Bengals have a 2012 2nd and a 2011 3rd rounder (3:2) to get a top-40 pick. Can hit me on twitter @michael_harman or at draftmaven@hotmail.com
for a top 40 pick your talking a first next year….or two 2nds at least
If the 2011 30th pick, a 2012 1st and 4th are worth the 6th pick (Jets ripped off the Browns again from a TVC standpoint by about a mid-2nd round pick worth of value), then the 66th pick and a 2012 2nd rounder isn’t a crazy way to move into the top-40. The TVC of a 2012 2nd and the 66th pick is about the value of the 37th pick give or take. I don’t love the TVC, but from all indications a top-40 pick isn’t a rip off
The Broncos traded the 36th and 67th picks to Colts for the 22nd pick.
The Broncos select Adrian Clayborn (DE, Iowa)
The Chiefs have selected Derek Sherrod (OL, Miss State) per @Wthe1stPick
4 tackles gone already by pick 21
and Pouncey is still available….id say Pouncey goes to KC at 21 if hes there.
Is there anywhere I can see all the picks without having to scroll through all of these comments?
http://www.nepatriotsdraft.com/2011-nepd-community-mock-picks
Links up at the top of the page.
Bills are very interested in trading up into the earlier 20’s anyone willing?
The Buc’s select Jimmy Smith CB Colorado
We’re cruising now, the Chiefs (With the 1st Pick) are on the clock.
Giants select Aldon Smith (DE, Missouri)
Giants are pumped-good pick.
wish he fell to the buc’s was crossing my finger’s you went OT the Buc’s whould of run to the podium with that draft card!!
The Giants (Jose Reyes) are on the Clock.
The Chargers (Zach Roberts) are on the clock. Have emails sent to the next three guys so it should get going hopefully.
The Chargers have selected Cam Jordan (DE, Cal)
no brainer
Everyone has been focusing on picks 28 and 33 as potential trade spots for the patriots. However I think 17 could be the spot the BB trades back from. If two or three players are on the board we could see BB trade back to 22-25 range and pick up an extra 3rd or 4th rounder. From everything being reported and the way things are starting to shape up, I think the run on QB is going to start sooner than everyone has thought. There for we will see some teams targeting pick 17 to move up and grab their QB.
I agree that trading back to 22/23 would’ve netted a 3rd round pick and likely still ending up with Watt, Jordan, or Wilkerson but it would’ve been a risk. If philly/ indy moves up and takes OT, then you gotta get through San Diego (Aldon/ 3-4 DE), Giants (Pouncey/ Ingram), Tampa Bay (D-line?), KC (pioli wants DL?), Indy (OT). You wouldve had Wilkerson at worst, but I do feel Watt/ Jordan are better than Wilkerson right now, so maybe a mid 3rd not worth it. Either way, happy with the draft choice.
I’m not necessarily talking bout this draft, I just think it is something that might happen next thursday. I agree with the pick of Watt he is the best fit, but who knows how BB views all these front 7 players, Im sure his opinion of them is much different than the publics.
I hope the lowest the Pats pick next week is 17th. I know they will move those picks around somewhere, but if Watt, Jordan, A.Smith,or Costanzo are there…i hope they make a pick. Picks 28 & 33 are perfect fo teams that didnt get a QB in the top half of the first round.
Patriots select – Jj Watt
Didn’t even have to trade up and you have Jordan, Watt, and Smith available. Pretty nice.
Yeah, it was a tough decision in all honesty and I’m sure I’ll get my fair share of negativity for it. I think he is solid against the run, and can move the OL if need be.
In all reality on Draft day, it could be somthing similiar.
I think the players that Pats should be happy to get at 17 is 1) Watt, 2) Jordan, 3) Costanzo. So to get Watt here is really nice. Watt will be nice 3-4 DE with ability to play in sub packages. He can rush the passer pretty well too. Would happy with any of those three players. I don’t really think there is great OLB value at 17.
Thank you!!!!
Ryn thanx for takeing (Timely Fasion) seriosly.
Tough choice with Smith-Watt & Jordan there, and Wilkerson for that matter. I like the Watt pick, i think Cam Jordan could be Willie McGinest at OLB, but Watt is the guy for DE.
Nice job being patient Ryan – Belichickian.
The time zone I’m currently in has the time at 11:45pm. Any chance Seattle will be on the clock before half past midnight?
Sorry – Jacksonville selects Ryan Kerrigan.
no abercrombie is slackin…only problem the Jags would have…is choosing Kerrigan….or A.Smith….i’d take Smith….I’d want them to take Kerrigan. So the Pats could get him, eben though they wouldn’t even if he fell to them.
I think Jordan or Watt is the pick at 17 if you dont move back. Stud 3-4 DE over a projection pick like Smith. So many questions about whether he can perform make it hard to take him over Jordan esp who played in 3-4 and Watt who looks like Seymour.
Jax Jag’s biggest need is a DE, shouldn’t be that herd to desipher a pick I would think?
Jaguars are taking Aldon Smith…just say it-haha…we know you probably dont want to because you pick after them…but abercrombie is killing us.
C’mon Jags Today guy You think ?!!!!
Seriously…..NEPatriots draft……pick for him pleease…
With the 15th overall pick of the NFL draft, the Miami Dolphins select…..
*Gabe Carimi out of Wisconsin for their offensive line.
hahaaa….ballsy pick….i like it…its a reach for sure….but i still like that pick-Carimi is a bad MF
Thank you –
One Bad MF in Jake Long on the one side, deserves another on the other.
Looking at who Carimi’s gone against in College…………
The G. Carimi & J. Long tandum at O-tackle should really begin to start the Miami O-line wall of protection in motion!
The run game has slacked severely with improper protection & their QB’s certainley need to stop being “shook-up” so much!
First real surprise…I’m guessing there were no takers for a trade down?
Im sitll open for trades on the 28th pick, if anyone is interested. One stipulation I would like picks in this years draft, as I have no idea unlike Bill B who is in next years draft…sorry if i let you down.
Jerry Jones is on line 1 calling for the 17th pick.
Your driving a pretty hard bargain…
41 & 105 this year….and a pick in the 40’s next year….
pick 41-490 pts, and pick 105 this year-84 points
pick say….50 next year-400 pts, and pick 114 in the 4th rnd next year-66 points.
That would be a total of 574 in this yrs draft.
And a total of at least 475 points next year.
That would be a total of about 1050 points….for the 17th overall pick- 950 points….its on the table.
2-2nd rounders.
& 2-4th rounders…41 & 105, and 50 & 114 in 2012…for #17.
If this is how the draft went down, I would be happy as a pats fan. There are a lot of good defensive front 7 options left. Would actually be happy if they traded down about 4/5 spots and picked up a 3rd from the teams with OT needs (i.e. Indy/ Philly).
The problem is I can’t slide, like they can in real life. Which is what I want, the guy who is on top of my board should be there… but if I take a trade like this I know he wont be there at 28, common sense. However, my 2nd/3rd options at the position will be there at 28 and 33, and even later in the 2nd possibly, but I dont want picks next year in this scenario because im not familiar enough with next years draft. Sorry if you all are upset.
I agree with you not trading with Boys. i dont think that 17 should be given up without a 2012 first involved and if you dont feel comfortable trading for future picks that is cool too. I was saying (Philly, Indy, maybe KC) all want OL and there has been a little run in the OT. Really only Sherrod and Solder left as for 1st round talent. If they are desperate I would squeeze a 3 this year out of em and you would still land one of (Watt, Jordan, Wilkerson, Aldon, Pouncey)
Dont blame you for not doin it in this mock…But I think a deal like this could happen on April 28th. For the 17th OR the 28th pick. 41 is a good spot to get an OLB/DE project or a good spot for the Pats to take a tackle or a guard.
I’ll be calling on that no.28 pick.
Do not forget about Nate Solder, who has been praised well lately.
I agree with Jared on 41. Top 10-15 picks in 2nd round is a good place to be for OLB/ G/ RB/ and CB. My draft strategy would be to maximize the number of picks i could get in that area but not with 17.
Patsfan…agreed. But in real life, I think the 41st and the 73rd pick this year. And a 2nd rounder next year, would be enough for pick 17. Only if Bill isnt in love with a guy there, which it seems he usually isnt.
I didn’t realize you upped it to a 3rd this year. Thought it was a 2nd and 4th in each year. Sounds a little better now.
haha…i didnt. I want to pick again in this mock-lol. But i could see that deal beeing done in the real draft.
Maybe I don’t respect the value of a 4th round pick enough but I would rather the 3rd this year. I would be too worried that the Boys would be too good and that 4th and 2nd next year would be at the end of the rounds.
definately….and its the 9th pick in the 3rd this year. Pats have the Moss pick 74th, so they would almost most definately trade one of those picks. Pats got almost the same pick lasy year from Dallas. Ended up trading it to Carolina…which ended up beeing 33rd this year 🙂
All for moving down like 3 spots to take McCourty anyways, that why Bill is the man. O…and we traded down a couple slots before that, to Denver, for a 4th rounder. that 4th rounder….turned into Aaron Hernandez. now THATS a 4th round pick, and THATS BB at his best.
With the 14th pick of 2011 draft the St Louis Rams select Corey Liuget, DT Illinois.
Sorry, didn’t read all the directions on it…my bad.
Jerry Jones is looking to trade up into the top 20…..
You will get the Cowboys 1st round pick in 2012….
the ninth pick in this years 3rd round-71…
and a 3rd round pick next season
I’d like to have picks this year…
No time like the present
okay Jerry says…I’ll give you….
DAL-2nd rounder this year-41
3rd rounder-73
4th rounder-105
for the 17th pick overall
BB is goin g to want picks for next year….
you can have the Cowboys second round pick next season…..AND their 2nd and 4rd rounders this year…for the 17th pick
the deal would go….
Patriots no.17
for Cowboys 41 and 105 this year
and 2nd rounder in 2012
41 is a perfect spot for the Pats in the 2nd round…..we traded last year and it worked out well for both of us…..
haha….im Jerry on the phone-talk to me
List of selections – http://www.nepatriotsdraft.com/2011-nepd-community-mock-picks

Rams open for trade?
Who did Minnesota take? or did Detroit skip them?
Mrs. NEPD selects Da’Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson for the Vikings.
thats high for ya boy from BC
Detroit Lions draft…
Anthony Castonzo OT Boston College
The Pat’s are making a big mistake not trading UP to draft top talent, in this draft year, with their multiple picks and limited needs.
Great Pick….Will be the best OT in this draft
2nd best tops
Texans would be pumped if Prince fell to them.
WIth the 11th pick, the Texans select Prince Amukamara, CB-Nebraska
Matt Carney, the Colts would be very willing to talk trade! Drop me a line on Twitter. @JaredCounterman
Jared and Matt send me an email if your willing to deal. Thanks…
ryanbuske@gmail.com
The Redskins select Julio Jones (WR, Alabama)
Hey coach Bill, will you hit me either @Michael_Harman or draftmaven@hotmail.com
Broncos looking to trade up into the 20’s.
http://twitter.com/#!/MattCarney12
Drop me a line on Twitter! @JaredCounterman
I’ve got a #15 for you from Miami?
2 perfect fits left for the Cowbpys at 9. Picking at 41 and 74, i feel i can get a solid corner there. Cant pass up on the hands down best tackle prospect in the draft.
…and with 9th pick of the 2011 NFL draft. The Dallas Cowboys select….
9. OT-USC- Tyron Smith
Bengals might be looking to get back up into the first round. Any team in the top-15ish willing to move back to the early 2nd and willing to take future value can hit me back at http://twitter.com/#!/Michael_Harman
if the draft plays out like this the titans are taking fairley…someone make the pick for them please
Already has been made.
Per NewNFLDraft – the Titans select Nick Fairley (DT, Auburn).
at this rate the real nfl draft will be over by the time we get thru round 1
NewNFLdraft…..your killing us
With the 7th pick in the 2011 NFL Draft the San Francisco 49ers select Robert Quinn, OLB, North Carolina
Nice pick on that one.
Put a pass rusher opposite Justin Smith, that’s deadly
If the draft did unfold this way with Gabbert, Peterson, Miller, Green off the board it would have to be considered a worst case scenario for the 49ers. Quinn is the best player/fit otherwise I would think they would try to trade back.
The Jets have dealt their 2011 1st, 2012 1st, and 2012 4th for the #6 pick in the draft.
Th Jets select AJ Green (WR, Georgia).
The 49ers are OTC.
Personally…I would love if the Jets spent 2 first round picks on a wide reciever.
I think it would cost alot more than two late first round picks to move up into the top ten from pick 29. They would have to at least trade their 1st, 2nd, 4th, and next years 1st to make such a big jump.
terrible
For who?
for the Jets…receivers are not worth that much
The Cardinals have selected Von Miller (LB, Texas A&M).
The Browns are OTC.
Jets wanting to move into Top 10.
ill give you the 7th pick you give me revis..deal?
hahaha, I’m pretty sure if you offered every pick in this AND next draf, they still wouldn’t give him up.
Fun to think about though
Patriots looking to move down to 10 or so, all offers are welcome. ryanbuske@gmail.com
Per email from Michael Harman, the Bengals select Blaine Gabbert (QB, Mizzou)
Oh man, almost got back in time. Anyways, here is a comment for the Gabbert Pick:
**
It is becoming a reality that Carson Palmer will not be back with the Bengals next year. Even with him back, Carson was never the top-5 QB that he was supposed to be, and like many other QB’s before him, the Mike Brown ‘curse’ struck. With a quick look at the depth chart you will see that Jordan Palmer, Carson’s little brother is the 2nd string. If you thought Carson was average, then Jordan is Todd Collins on a scale of QB relevance.
The Bengals admit that they are in rebuild mode (ok, maybe this pick won’t happen) and select Blaine “Hawks > Tigers” Gabbert
**
On behalf of Dan, the Bills select M. Dareus (DL, Alabama)
Solid pick.
Fran Duffy @fduffyTUFB – I have the Eagles and pick 23
Seahawks interested in moving into the early teens. Contact via @robstaton
Make an offer for the Miami #15 over all……….
My draft pick commitee can be reached at:
“verandert2007@aol.com”
With the second pick in the NFL Draft the Broncos select Patrick Peterson, Cornerback- LSU
If anyone would like to discuss trades for any of my picks (CHARGERS) my e-mail is zrob0890@yahoo.com – I am actively seeking any deals I feel can help my team win.
NEPD can you make the broncos pick? Matt is slowing the process down. Or at least we should skip the pick, like they do in the real draft.
PD Guru kind of jumped the gun by starting the picking tonight, so we’ll be a little more patient with the picks tonight.
fair enough.
if everyone posts either their twitter or their email it will make it easier to communicate trade offers, and remind people when its their turn to pick.. im @mloyko54 on twitter
I have a master list of emails as well and am sending out reminders about who is on the clock.
@josereyes0
Team: Giants
I’ve got the Bengals. twitter @Michael_Harman or draftmaven@hotmail.com work for trades. Bengals listening to all offers for the 4th pick (Gabbert, Green, Dareus, Miller.. Two of the four will be there to trade for!)
Coming up on the last chance to trade up to #6 with me, the Browns.
Open to any offers.
Send me offers at twitter.com/brendan89
Or email me at red89_NFL@yahoo.com
haha…dont blame you for the pick, even though i would take Gabbert, but Cam Newton has Vince Young written alll over him.
Use the reply button, or you’re going to get in trouble Jared. I kid NEPD, I kid!
With the 1st pick, after shockingly no offers coming forth (haha), the Panthers select:
Cam Newton, QB, Auburn
BUST!!!!!
OUCH!
hahahah – I offered him #10 and a 2012 2nd rounder for it too… but I wanted Gabbert.
You all keep taking QB’s it only makes 17 better…
xoxo
Bill B
