Patriots Will Hold Workout with Andy Dalton

Andy Dalton NFL Draft

Andy Dalton works under center at the Senior Bowl - could he be a part of the Patriots' future plans?

UPDATE: Dalton’s favorite receiver, Jeremy Kerley, will also get a private workout from the Patriots.

After visiting a dozen or so College Pro Days over the last few days, the Patriots have secured another private workout according to multiple sources – this time with a Rose Bowl winning quarterback.

Andy Dalton, who quarterbacked TCU to incredible heights over the last four years, will get checked out by the Patriots brass in the coming days. Dalton impressed at his Pro-Day, leading scout Russ Lande to state, “He clearly showed he has the ability to be an NFL starting QB. Combine that with his outstanding intangibles and intelligence, and he could make a push to climb into the top of the second round.”

He steadily improved during his college career, finishing with a 66.1% completion rate during his Senior season. He finished the 2010 campaign with 27 touchdowns compared to 6 interceptions.

With Tom Brady in charge of the Patriots offense for the foreseeable future, Dalton would project as possible competition for Brian Hoyer, who has been the Patriots lone backup the last two NFL seasons.

    Agreed on R. Stanzi.

Dalton is interesting prospect who has played well in big games, seems like he is solid kid. Sounds like he will get a lot of looks in 2nd round, probably no later than early 3rd. I just don’t see BB going QB in first 3 rounds even with all of our picks. If Iowa QB Stanzi is still on board at Pats 4th round selection I could see that pick being made.
