Patriots vs Lions: The Aftermath

The Patriots rallied from 14-3 down on Thanksgiving day to beat the Detroit Lions in a 45-24 romp. Tom Brady ended the day with a perfect 158.3 rating, 10 years after making his debut with the Patriots.

How awesome of game is this for Patriots fans? Tom Brady returning to the place where he recorded his first stats 10 years ago, against the same team, on the same holiday. That evening Charlie Batch was the top passer as the Lions trampled the Patriots 34-9… Terry Glenn was the top receiver. (woah)

These 2-8 Lions are definitely not going to walk all over Tom Brady and the Patriots this Thanksgiving, but they also might not be as bad as their record suggests. With only three full days of rest the Patriots are walking right in to another trap game back on the road: the only place they’ve lost this season. Happy Thanksgiving from NEPD!

With the Patriots leading 31-14 with 10-plus minutes remaining in the half, no fan felt secure.  One only had to remember one year earlier to see how quickly that lead can evaporate.

James Sanders, however, was having none of that.  His acrobatic interception of Peyton Manning with the Colts furiously driving the ball down the field sealed the grim-faced one’s fate, and sending the Gillette-faithful home happy with a 31-28 Patriots victory.

Well, here we are at Colts Week and the hype is just as big as we expected. With this annual inter-divisional rivalry game shifting back into New England for the first time since November 2007, many are anticipating the series to also shift back into New England’s favor.
