As the “turk” made his way through the locker room Saturday, new and old players alike were forced to turn in their playbooks. A sad day for many, but the practice squad and other NFL rosters beckon to many.
Veteran outside linebacker Derrick Burgess was among those released, along with special teams and linebacker mainstays Eric Alexander and Pierre Woods. Rob Ninkovich, Tully Banta-Cain, Jermaine Cunningham and Marques Murrell are the current OLB’s on the roster.
Recent draft picks Rich Ohrnberger, Ted Larsen, and Thomas Welch were released as well. All three are prime candidates for the Patriots practice squad, which will open up Sunday at 12pm.

I don’t see Kaczur on this list. Does that mean his injury isn’t as bad as we all thought? And I’m surprised to see Dane Fletcher, who I love still on the team. I thought he would make the PS. And I thought BJGE was gone this year, but I guess not.
I was also surprised not to see Kaczur on the IR and Fletcher not on the PL, but I’m not surprised to see Green-Ellis on the roster. He’s the only healthy’ workman like RB and the best blocker of the five.
(PS not PL for Fletcher)
Burgess and Woods cut…I thought neither were very good..but hen again neither is TBC, Nicho, Murrell and cunningham. This has to be the worste group of OLBs in he league.
Surprised to see Murrell over Woods. I’m a little surprised to see Aiken go. I think Burgress was a good cut. I would expect to see Eric Alexander in the NFL somewhere before the end of the year. I don’t see Segio Brown’s name on the cut list.
I stand corrected- Brown has been cut- I hope he gets on the PS- I think the kid is pretty good-
