Nick Kaczur Has Significant Injury

Nick Kaczur Injury

Nick Kaczur's back injury further detiorates the Patriots offensive-line depth. Is a roster move forthcoming?

According to a WEEI report, Nick Kaczur’s eleven session absence from Patriots training camp is due to a “significant” back injury. Kaczur hasn’t been ruled out of the 2010 NFL season, “but the prospects for a return any time soon remain grim.”

Kaczur’s injury hits extra hard considering that last year’s starter, Logan Mankins, is currently in a contract dispute with the team. Mankins has previously requested a trade.

Dan Connolly has seen the majority of snaps at left guard during camp, with Ryan Wendell taking a few reps as well.  Newly signed Eric Ghiaciuc, who has played 42 games at guard and center with the Bengals, will be looked at as well. Second-year player Rich Ohrnberger and rookie Ted Larsen also will be competing for time.

That sucks. Time to trade Mankins for Robert Gallery and a 3rd-rounder.

Gallery isn’t always the picture of health himself. I do like the player though.

Born and raised Hawkeye, but I do not feel like he would be a good fit for the team. But OL help is apparent. It will be interesting to see how this dilemma unfolds. Mankins may end up getting his money after all.
