Patriots Madden Ratings Observations

A few quick hits on some of the interesting or odd things in the individual rankings for Madden ’11. You can see the full list here.

Swagger

The new rating this year has to do with celebrating after or before a TD.  Tom Brady clocks in with the Patriots highest rating at 96.  Randy Moss also sports a 95.  The oversight here is Zoltan Mesko – given a 75 rating… He deserves at least a 106.

Are you lost Rookie?

Evidently, the great minds behind Madden think that Devin McCourty barely knows how to find the locker room.  He was given a 47 awareness rating, which is woefully low for a smart cornerback like McCourty.

Maroney

Let me get this out there first: I like Laurence Maroney.  I think he is a valuable part of the Patriots organization. That said, his four fumbles, two at the goal line, were absolute killers. So his ball carrying rating will show that, right?  Nope.  He was awarded a 88, the highest on the Patriots team.

Light-en up

Matt Light must not be able to jump over a playbook, if his 11, yes ELEVEN, jumping rating is to be believed. For comparison purposes: Wilfork (56), Warren (61), Koppen (48).  I’ll take some pretty good odds that Vince Wilfork can’t jump 5x higher than Matt Light.

Makes you wonder…

Hernandez has the highest awareness of the top picks the Pats took

Sorry about the question. Checked the list, first off…How can you get a 47 awareness?-for one. And then, how do you get drafted by Bill Belichick?? I am a huuuge fan of Madden, and I consider them a reliable source for information about players. Whenever the Pats snag an under-the-radar free agent like say…. Damione Lewis from the Panther this year, I go straight to Madden to check out his attributes. But I think in the last couple of years-Madden people have been getting harder on players, more so the less established or aging players…basically everyone but the stars. Edelman… a 76. ouch. And I think they rate all rookies low, A.Hernandez…i know hes a 4th round pick, but 68? He has the highest rating of the Florida rookie classmen the Pats drafted?? I thought he was the one hitting the bong more than the books??

McCourty had a 47 in what attribute? Awareness?
