I understand where Ryan is going. BB drafts players hoping they turn out… then when they do, you cant always resign them. It is frusrating as a fan, but its business. The defense lost 5 HOF type leaders in one season. If next year, the offense loses Mankins, Light, Neal, Koppen, Brady, and Faulk….like the defense did….i’l be worried. But if Mankins gets a $50 million dollar deal from someone, i wont hold it against the Pats for saying there goodbyes.

There are always going to be holes to fill – I think the Patriots do a good job of identifying and prioritizing which holes need filled first.

Remember, we want the best 53, not the top 10.

Its hard to build a team without any leaders. Just ask the Defense. If he leaves next year I think we are going to have some tough decisions in front of the team. In order to win a championship the Patriots are going to have to dish some money to keep these good players so they can go into the draft and get some players who can fill the holes, instead of creating new holes and constantly having to fill them.

I agree, i wish we knew the chances of the franchise tag being there. I dont know where either side stands on it, the players probably dont like it. It puts them at risk injury wise, and most players that recieve it are guys holding out for a big-time contract. Thats why I can see the Pats saying goodbye. But I do think Mankins is in a different category than a guy like Ty Law or Asante Samuel, I think the team has a better chance of signing Mankins to a below market contract. His agent might not like it though.

Depending on whether the new CBA contains “Franchise Tag” language, I see Mr. Mankins having to make an Asante Samuel-esque decision – money or team.

There is no way that the Patriots will pay Jahri Evans cash, cap or not.

Logan doesnt have a choice but to sign the tender by the 14th, or he will just cost of himself unnecassary cash. But as for next year?? I believe that the record contract that J.Evans got from the Saints at guard is the worst thing that could of happened for the hopes of them extending the deal this offseason. Tom Bradys contract is number 1 priority, i would put Mankins’ 2nd. But with numerous picks in the last two drafts and numerous high picks next year… I can envision the Pats waiving goodbye as he signs a $50 million dollar deal somewhere else. The Pats have no solid young talent at guard that is proven to any degree, they were lucky enough to resign veteran S.Neal. But I dont know if BB & company value OG as much as say…NT or QB. I hope they resign him, Logan has payed his dues with his mouth shut thus far. But right now, hes barking up the wrong tree, the Pats own him on the cheap for one more year…so who didnt expect this?

Here is the low down:
1. To be Successful the Patriots need him.
2. To be Successful He needs the Patriots.
3. He wants to get paid.
4. The Patriots do not want to “pay” him.

The only way this is going to work out is if he takes a pay cut or …
