Adalius Thomas Released by Patriots

The Patriots have released much-maligned outside linebacker Adalius Thomas, according to Adam Schefter. The 32 year-old, who was a constant locker room distraction in 2009, totaled just 14.5 sacks during his three years in Foxboro. The 2009 NFL season was the worst in his career, being credited with just 34 tackles.

Who is in line to replace Thomas? The Patriots just drafted Florida OLB Jermaine Cunningham and signed Montana DE/OLB Dane Fletcher. Both rookies were very disruptive on Saturdays, which will hopefully translate to Sundays as well. Pierre Woods and Rob Ninkovich are the veterans most likely to see more time.

Personally, getting a slight infection out of the locker room is a plus any day of the week. Who knows what really goes on in there, but I'm sure the Patriots didn't want to just give away close to 5 million. However, I see the Pat's attempting to get a Vet OLB maybe less known but one yet who cna play or lead.
