The Patriots signed veteran TE Alge Crumpler today, making him the lone tight end on the roster. After a great career with the Atlanta Falcons and some disappointing seasons with the Tennessee Titans, Crumpler is mainly seen as a blocker. On occasion though, he can still catch a pass or three.
Crumpler has always been described as a hard-working guy that brings leadership qualities to any team that he has worked with. Just what the Patriots need.
Crumpler fills the vacancy left by the departure of six-year veteran Ben Watson and Chris Baker.

Crumpler is a 3rd OT that can catch the ball when needed. Great pickup.
Alge Crumpler would be a great signing… 3 years ago! Not so much now. However, apparently his receiving speed has dropped off a bit – but that is of no concern… what really matters is his blocking – which I read he was still excellent at. So the signing makes sense in that regard.
A lot of great TE’s are drafted in the later rounds. Witten was a 4th round pick for instance. We need to hit on one at some point.

Anyone would be huge for us at this point.
Alge Crumpler would be huge for the Patriots. WE HAVE NO TE’s.
