Florida Pro-Day Report

On a supposedly lucky St. Patrick’s Day, the Gator prospects were unlucky with the weather, as rain made for a tougher track for their Pro Day. With all the hoopla surrounding one Tim Tebow, we were much more interested in watching Joe Haden, Jermaine Cunningham, Carlos Dunlap, Brandon Spikes, Aaron Hernandez, Riley Cooper, and Maurkice Pouncey.

Joe Haden didn’t disappoint, running a 4.43 and locking up a top 16 draft pick. Haden’s 4.5 numbers at the combine worried some teams, but those concerns seem to be drying upp.

Brandon Spikes, however, ran a shockingly poor 5.02 40-yard dash. Nobody every mistook him for Patrick Willis, but this is even slower than scouts thought. His instincts and lack of false steps helps, but some teams are going to shy away.

Carlos Dunlap ran a 4.62, solidifying himself as one of the most athletic DE’s in the 2010 NFL Draft. Teams are still concerned with his motor, character, and work ethic.

Tim Tebow improved his throwing motion, but there is “still a loop… and a pause in the throwing motion” according to Michael Wright of the Florida Times-Union. Reports show a better spiral and release point.

Joe Haden could be the guy, but the kid at USC is pro stuff, runs a great route, unlike some guys already in the NFL

The Pats would be smart to stay away from a TE and WR in the 1st 2 rounds because they suck at evaluating them…and I’m a die hard Pats fan and Draft guru. Stick to what you do best…OL/DL!!!

Aaron Hernandez = Patriots 2010 TE

How about WR David Nelson? It looks like he’s tearing it up in the forty and cone drills and he’s got a big Randy Moss like body at 6’5….

Not going to happen – or at least it shouldn’t. 1. He would have to drop into the late teens early 20′s. or 2. Patriots would have to trade up to get him. Why do that when they resigned Bodden and Butler looked very promising as a rookie. We have bigger needs.

  6. Patriots Rule says:

Joe Haden would look very good in a Patriots uniform.
