NFL Draft Homework: Poinsettia Bowl

Utah vs Cal, December 23rd, 8:00pm, ESPN

Top NFL Draft Prospects for the Poinsettia Bowl

1. Jahvid Best, Junior RB, Cal (Pictured)
Best is a walking highlight, taking runs and catches to the house with seeming ease. A late-season injury might spook some suitors, but expect Best to be a late 1st or early 2nd round pick.

2. Syd’Quan Thompson, Senior CB, Cal
Thompson, however, isn’t a highlight reel guy, mainly because QB’s tend not to throw it his way too often. Easily a 2nd-3rd round pick whose stock could rise based on how well he runs at the combine.

3. Robert Johnson, Senior FS, Utah
A true ballhawk at the safety position, Johnson always seems to be in the right spot at the right time. Johnson has the ball-skills to be drafted somewhere in the middle rounds, probably in the 4th or 5th.

4. Tyson Alualu, Senior DE, Cal
Alualu is a 3-4 DE prospect that could easily go in the 3rd or 4th rounds. He might be too small to play DT in a 4-3 scheme, so he might get taken off some of the 4-3 team’s draft boards.
