Patriots Training Camp Report: Impressive / Depressive

Six days in to the 2009 Patriot Training Camp and certain players are starting to shine, while others are not so fine. Let’s take a look at these players on both extremes.

Impressive
Julian Edelman – Fast becoming the favorite of many a die-hard fan, Edelman continues in his Wes Welker/Raymond Ventrone redux role. Edelman seems to be willing and capable of doing anything and everything possible to make this team.

Leigh Bodden – Top-Speed was always somewhat of a concern for Bodden (Just look at his Madden rating…) but it didn’t seem to stop him from sticking with uber-fast Joey Galloway. Bodden has received rave reviews from reporters at practice.

Tom Brady – Honestly, it just warms my heart seeing him back in between the white lines. Should be a great season with all these weapons.

Depressive
Vince Redd – So bad, that they canned him and sent him to Kansas City. That has got to hurt… he didn’t even get a big contract like Cassel.

Kevin O’Connell – Not playing bad as much as he just isn’t getting many reps. Hopefully, Belichick and the other coaches just need to evaluate Walter and Hoyer more than O’Connell – if it is a performance issue, that is not promising.

Patriots Signing Cleo Lemon?

Saturday, August 1st, 2009

According to Tim Graham of the 4-Letter, the Patriots are on the verge of signing veteran signal-caller Cleo Lemon. Lemon is best remembered forbeing the starting QB during much of the 1-15 season for the Dolphins in 2007, and as a 2-year veteran of the NFL All-Food Team.

If the Michael Vick to the Patriots weren’t dead yet, this should put a nail in that coffin. Lemon would provide a serviceable #3 QB to compete with second year Patriot QB Kevin O’Connell in the pre-season.
