Patriots Cut Chad Jackson

The frustrating Chad Jackson era has come to an end in New England. According to Mike Reiss the Patriots have released the former second-round pick. After showing brilliance at times, Jackson got injured far too often and rarely showed command of the playbook. Matt Cassel was often seen barking in his direction this pre-season.

Jabar Gaffney has shown himself to be more reliable in the #3 receiver position, and with Matthew Slater and C.J. Jones on the roster to return kicks, Chad Jackson didn’t have anything to bring to the table. Perhaps his roster spot will be used in acquiring a veteran CB — Ty Law anyone?

Our friends have at the Patriot Act have listed the problems Bill Belichick has had with 2nd Round receivers: Bethel Johnson, Deion Branch, and now Chad Jackson.

Perhaps Bethel Johnson is looking for a roommate…

To me chad was a good player, i dont know why they would cut him, Like Mr. White that play for the Atlanta Falcons, he had to grow with the team, so if you ask me they should have kept Chad Jackson he is a young player that could of done the team so good!! I’m Kind of upset, but there is a way so there is a will for MR. Jackson, we will see more of him.

With Jackson and now Lynch as Reiss is reporting, I really have to hope this is clearing space for Ty Law as you suggest. Maybe they’re also planning ahead for Kevin Faulk’s return, but that seems very unlikely.I’m not sure what other candidates are out there…Hank Poteat? Willie Anderson?
